Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 634359] [NEW] php-pear should depend on php5-dev
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: php5 Most of PECL packages require /usr/bin/phpize and some other php5-dev files to get installed/compiled (i.e. pecl/fribidi), but php5-dev is not always installed. The worst issue is that /usr/bin/pecl (or /usr/bin/pear install pecl/...) doesn't give user any clue on how to resolve the problem. A simple solution is to add php5-dev to php-pear's dependencies. Another one is to introduce another package, php-pecl, that contains /usr/bin/pecl and set php5-dev as a dep of php-pecl. ** Affects: php5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- php-pear should depend on php5-dev https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/634359 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 631795] Re: [MAVERICK] fails to boot after install on dmraid set
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: dmraid hi After *a lot* of troubles with Gparted and Grub / Grub-install, I managed to install Maverick Beta from an Alternative CD (iso image dated 05 sept 2010). This is a system with Promise Fasttrack fakeraid, booting off 2 disks in striped mode. It's dual boot with XP. When booting I see a lot of error messages that indicate a mismatch in the naming of partitions between dmraid and the kernel. It seems one is using the /dev/mapper/pdc_jcchiiab5 convention, while the other uses dm-5. After a while it does boot, but as it does not mount /home on /dev/mapper/pdc_jcchiiab6, I can not log on. I tried going into recovery mode, dropping into a root session on the right partition, mounting /home and then doing an update-initramfs -u to see if that would restore the right device names for my / and /home. It did not work, so I'm not enjoying Maverick yet :-( I'm linking this bug to the package linux as well, since I believe it is an issue between dmraid and the kernel. If there is more information I should collect, please tell me what you need, and give me some hints on how to get them. [Bug 614274] Re: modem-manager fails to recognize 3G modem after suspend/resume
A few ideas... 1. Lets compare BIOS versions, and lets all upgrade to the latest. sudo dmidecode -s bios-version on my T61 showed BIOS version 2.10. I've just updated mine to BIOS version 2.27 a.k.a. 7LETC7WW (2.27-1.08) using the .iso image here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67989 The complete list of changes does include references to all sorts fixes that might be relevant here, both to the intermittent modem problem and to the crashes you're experiencing: memory may get garbled during ... resume, Unexpected interrupts from the USB controller, etc.. (FWIW, I'm not experiencing these crashes). Complete BIOS change list: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-68451 2. What happens if you insert a sleep 1 right above the rfkill unblock line in the modified 20_wwan script from comment #30? 3. I noticed this BIOS option: Config-USB--Always on USB which leaves USB ports powered during low power states (it is disabled on my machine). It might be interesting to try enabling it on one of the machines that exhibits the problem (and revert to the kernel and setup where the problem was happening frequently). -- modem-manager fails to recognize 3G modem after suspend/resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/614274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 570604] Re: resume after suspend on HP EliteBook 8440p
2.6.35-20.29 kernel from Ubuntu Kernel PPA (or Maverick daily live CD) fixes suspend/resume for me, but breaks configuring monitors with xrandr or gnome-display-properties. After applying changes display flickers and only the pointer is visible. External LCD display reports out-of-range error. [Bug 632808] [NEW] The entire bottom pannel is missing. Also missing are all the icons for the games, other, and monitor settings.
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Marc Deslauriers (mdeslaur): Binary package hint: lxpanel I installed Lubuntu earlier today on a VirtualBox VM. I downloaded the Beta .iso last night, so I'm sure it is current. The installation went very smoothly, and after the restart I went and checked for updates (and obviously installed them). At this time I also used a terminal to get the documentation for Perl (in case it has anything that might have gone wrong; that at least still works fine). After it was done, a restart was required; I did so, and afterwards the entire task bar, start menu, everything at the bottom of the screen was gone. There was a grey bar at the top. I was able to circumvent the need for a launcher by creating a folder on the desktop and going to a different directory to launch applications, and everything seems fine so far (browser, terminal, everything works). However, applications will randomly minimize without any input on my behalf; so far chromium, lxterminal and pcmanfm have all done so, and I cannot unminimize them. I have 2 included screenshots below. http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad121/ace_cipher/Lubuntu_error_1.png http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad121/ace_cipher/Lubuntu_error_2.png ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: lxpanel 0.5.6-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-20.29-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-20-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Sep 7 16:58:38 2010 InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Alpha i386 (20100806) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: lxpanel ** Affects: lxpanel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 maverick -- The entire bottom pannel is missing. [Bug 634387] [NEW] creates motd.tail on postinst, which could mean duplicate entries in /etc/motd

First, base-files moved motd.tail as motd.tail.old, and later initscripts would create a new on by running 'sed 1d /etc/motd /etc/motd.tail' (motd would by that time have been regenerated it seems).
