[Bug 662475] Re: does not boot from USB (10.4 did)
Hi philippe, Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 662475 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. [Bug 661015] Re: cpu usage in pulse at priority -11 much too high for working quick with other things
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: pulseaudio I encountered problems with pulseaudio when I don't reduce the priority of the pulseaudio from -11 (far too high for working with other things at the same time) to zero priority. Rhythmbox crashes frequently and the rest of my netbook (max cpuspeed 1.90 Ghz, i know it is an old laptop but it worked fine till this problem encoutered with pulse in the system upgrade) Now when I put it back to 0 priority the system works fine and back to normal speed (dont have to wait an hour to load an application) but only how can I fix it by booting the system: so that my pulsaudio doesn't give my pc the idea that only he is important and rhytmbox crashes at -11 pulseaudio priority? Because in general I don't see the reason why pulseaudio should from the new release on now suddenly beginning to consume -11 priority which gives the rest of the processing no chance at all to work normal speed. and it wasn't set up that way eiter in de previously released versions which made my system still as quick as i need. but now... what has happened to pulseaudio in programming that it consumes too much (-11 priority is killing my processor capacities) Even when I go on the net an rhythmbox plays music loading sites is slower than not using pulseaudio I mean how can I fix the fact that I don't need to reduce it everyday when I boot my system? that pulse starts just with 0 priority by booting ubuntu , ? which is much better to work on my notebook as speed in documents and which works still very fine enough for the sound of rhythmbox and at that priority I also didn't have rhythmbox as crashing process anymore so I repeat the question in short: How can i fix the zero priority setting of pulseaudioserver together with booting the system (booting and priority of pulse was fixed in ubuntu lucid previously but now the same action (remembering this setting when no other application are up and pulse set to zero doen't work out with the nex reboot)however it worked out in lucid) so that the system boots much more quick and i dont have to set it up myself anyday? someone who can help me with that configuration (commandline based I suppose)? thanks in advance wim pauwels + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23. + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC2: wim4284 F pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC0: wim4284 F pulseaudio + /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: wim4284 F...m pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC1: wim4284 F pulseaudio + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'S51'/'Creative Technology SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 at usb-:00:1d.0-1, full speed' +Mixer name : 'USB Mixer' +Components : 'USB041e:3042' +Controls : 0 +Simple ctrls : 0 + Card0.Amixer.values: + + Card1.Amixer.info: + Card hw:1 'U0x46d0x9c1'/'USB Device 0x46d:0x9c1 at usb-:00:1d.7-4, high speed' +Mixer name : 'USB Mixer' +Components : 'USB046d:09c1' +Controls : 2 +Simple ctrls : 1 + Card1.Amixer.values: + Simple mixer control 'Mic',0 +Capabilities: cvolume cvolume-joined cswitch cswitch-joined penum +Capture channels: Mono +Limits: Capture 0 - 3072 +Mono: Capture 1903 [62%] [25.43dB] [on] + Card2.Amixer.info: + Card hw:2 'ICH6'/'Intel ICH6 with ALC655 at irq 10' +Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC655 rev 0' +Components : 'AC97a:414c4760' +Controls : 41 +Simple ctrls : 26 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Release i386 (20101007) + Package: pulseaudio 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21.1 + PackageArchitecture: i386 + ProcEnviron: + LANG=nl_BE.utf8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.34-generic 2.6.35.4 + Tags: maverick + Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 04/07/05 + dmi.bios.vendor: FUJITSU SIEMENS + dmi.bios.version: 1.0B-1210-8A20 + dmi.board.name: AMILO M7440 + dmi.board.vendor: FUJITSU SIEMENS + dmi.board.version: Not Applicable + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag + dmi.chassis.type: 1 + dmi.chassis.vendor: FUJITSU SIEMENS + dmi.chassis.version: N/A + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnFUJITSUSIEMENS:bvr1.0B-1210-8A20:bd04/07/05:svnFUJITSUSIEMENS:pnAMILOMSeries:pvrNotApplicable:rvnFUJITSUSIEMENS:rnAMILOM7440:rvrNotApplicable:cvnFUJITSUSIEMENS:ct1:cvrN/A: + dmi.product.name: AMILO M Series + dmi.product.version: Not Applicable + dmi.sys.vendor: FUJITSU SIEMENS ** Attachment added: AlsaDevices.txt https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/661015/+attachment/1700274/+files/AlsaDevices.txt -- cpu usage in pulse at priority -11 much too high for working quick with other things https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661015 You

[Bug 662881] [NEW] ftdi usb serial node only accessible by root
Public bug reported: After the upgrade to Kubuntu 10.10 I was not able connect to my buspirate (FTDI USB - serial). [Bug 661015] Re: cpu usage in pulse at priority -11 much too high for working quick with other things
one last information about the sound-devices quite important for bugfixing. I use like you can see also always usb-soundcards this is due to the fact that my morhterboard-soundcard device broke down and this has nothing to do with the alsa driver if it should no sound would play anyway but the sound plays through pulse: thanks to this I have sound anyway, but after some time and in mixing with other sounds from the system or websites-sounds my processor seems to become idle for a while and my screen is blocked by some compiz-effect maybe this programme should be made deletable without harming the dekstop like before, because it could be two things together: maybe the pulse server with -11 priority which encounters too much problems but not when i reduce its priority to 0 (zero). it could also be compiz which runs offenly in a way that my desktop screen becomes idle. My laptop is not intended to run videoffectes on a dekstop: its for working with documents. but when I don't need compiz i cant make it uninstalled because then i don't have my dekstop anymore. so but rahter I think its only the pulse anyway. I posted like you asked my bugsfixer-reports. can someone help me out of this pc-idling problem? thanks in advance for enhancing the pulseserver if needed kind regards wim pauwels -- cpu usage in pulse at priority -11 much too high for working quick with other things https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661015 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Fix: I have no idea how or why this happens, but after upgrade to 10.10, a keyboard shortcut is set to make 'D' minimize all windows. After logging in, you can select the menu 'System' - 'Preferences' - 'Keyboard Shortcuts' and find the Hide all normal windows and set focus to desktop and set this to something sane like Alt + D. [Bug 619008] Re: Ubuntu 10.10 freezes when loading
I was experiencing this same problem and found a way to fix it. I just received a new Lenovo T410 laptop with discrete NVidia graphics accelerator today. Installed Ubuntu 10.10 and everything worked fine. When I installed the NVidia driver and rebooted, the system would hang on checking battery state message and not progress any further. The cause and solution: I checked the bios of the T410 and there is a graphics setting that switches between integrated (no acceleration) discrete (activates NVidia accelerator at all times) and NVidia Optimus. The Optimus setting was on by default, with this description: If enabled, System BIOS automatically switches Graphics Device setting to NVIDIA Optimus mode if the OS supports the feature, and to Discrete Graphics if the OS does not support it. I changed the setting to discrete and Ubuntu booted with no problems. I assume that Linux does not currently support NVIDIA Optimus :) -- Ubuntu 10.10 freezes when loading https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/619008 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 658616] Re: gtk.STOCK_REMOVE has changed to something (I think is) confusing
in Maverick the gtk-remove stock item is the same as gtk-delete. This is very confusing. In our Gtk application this results in menu buttons with the same icon and different functions. Other applications are also affected, for instance Deluge (Bittorent client). IMO it is not a good idea to define the same icon for two different stock items. [Bug 662885] [NEW] PDF Compositing error
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince I have an error in Evince where a PDF created in Openoffice with OO standard PDF settings has an problem with displaying Gradients. In specific each of the text boxes has a gradient background which shows as a single bar of each colour in the gradient at the top and bottom of the text box. I have checked the PDF on a windows machine and the PDF displays correctly so I know there are no problems with any of the PDF files. I will attach a screen shot as soon as I can.
