Namaskar to all, . Is there some one in Patna who can kindly provide me CD of Ubuntu 11.10 or 11.04 or 10.10 or any other. Actually i want to install ubuntu in my laptop but it is very hard for me to download. I tried but b/c of slow connection it is almost impossible for me to download. [ubuntu-uk] Taking notes with Ubuntu
With the new college, school and university year starting soon, I was wondering what tools can be used to take notes for lectures, classes, meetings, etc. in Ubuntu, or on Linux in general. There are popular tools like MS OneNote and Evernote, but neither support Linux (granted they can apparently work with Wine but that's not the focus) So, does anyone on here use or know of any decent software/methods to use? P.S. Olá Renato, Mudar papel-de-parede, clique com o botão direito na área de trabalho configurar desktop aí vc escolhe, pode baixar, ou as que tem. Aproveite e teste a opção search. Um segundo problema é o idioma, que ainda está in English. Tenho que instalar o pacote de idiomas, mas não me lembro como. K System configuration locale 3ª opção (não lembro mais como é em inglês) então o sistema vai informar que o pacote de idiomas não está totalmente instalado, e pergunta se quer instalar. Pronto. Beleza. Obtive novos papéis-de-parede e troquei pelo desejado dentre eles. Mas a dica do idioma não rolou. Não existia a opção de obter mais linguagens. Lá recomendava que se instalasse o pacote PT-BR pelo processo usual. Aí fui no Google e um sudo apt-get install apt-get install kde-i18n-ptbr rodou e disse que o pacte estava desatualizado e sugeriu o substituto. Usei-o e pronto! Muito grato novamente! [Ubuntu-BR] Uso excessivo de swap
Pessoal, Desde que instalei o Ubuntu 11.04, o uso da swap é constante! Tenho 2gb de RAM, que não chegam perto de ser usados, mas constantemente minha máquina começa a ficar mais lenta, o HD começa a a ser mt usado e, qd vou ver com o comando free -m, a swap tá bem cheia. Hoje, por exemplo, tinha 1,5 GB de swap sendo usado! Mas a RAM não estava cheia! Não pode ficar 3 dias ligados que já tá impraticável o uso (muita lentidão para abrir programas, trocar de aba, de janela, etc). Uso programas normais: Firefox, Thunderbird e skype, basicamente. Alguém tb está notando esse comportamento? Queria descobrir se isso é culpa do SO ou de algum programa mal comportado... Eu tenho o mesmo problema que o João. Coloquei mais 1GB, mas não adiantou muito. Mais alguns programas que também rodam constantemente: empathy, transmission, dropbox e yakuake. Boas a todos!! Muito estranho! Tenho uma maquina com 1 GB de Ram rodando o Ubuntu 11.04 filézinho Tenho um outro cliente que tem o 11.04 rodando com 512 MB de memoria, e tudo anda bem. Algum problema com os módulos de memoria que poderiam estar fazendo o sistema desviar da RAM para o Swap? Algum processo sendo executado de modo anormal? Algum hardware ou driver com incompatibilidade? Podemos definir uma linha de analise. Primeiro, vamos ver se algum hardware do Rafael e do João são iguais. Vocês poderiam postar suas configurações (placa-mãe, tipo de memoria e velocidade destas, marca e tamanho do HD)? Depois, façam um teste de memoria com a opção memtest no menu do Grub ( é só apertar SHIFT logo após o prompt do BIOS). Prezados, Como faço para recuperar o caminho para o boot UBUNTU? No momento do boot, a única opção que funciona é a WINDOWS 7. Todas as opções LINUX, já instaladas, simplesmente não encontram o disco requerido. Como resolver isso? Uso ubuntu nesse notebook desde 2007 e nunca tive esse problema. Irei fazer os testes de memória! Reiniciei o note, deixei 4h ele ligado e tá com 372 MB de swap usado. Ok. Seu problema então deve ser com algum processo em especifico que está trabalhando de forma anormal. O comando top deve te mostrar os processos ativos e os que mais estejam comendo memória. Outro caminho seria analisar os logs do sistema. De qualquer forma, seria uma boa providencia eliminar a possibilidade de um erro na imagem .iso do Ubuntu que você instalou medindo o MD5 tanto da iso quanto do CD gravado. Tem dois ótimos artigos que ensinam como medir o MD5 de uma iso: http://ubuntued.info/faca-download-do-ubuntu-11-04-natty-narwhal http://andregondim.eti.br/ubuntu/confira-o-hash-e-nao-perca-cds-ou-dvds/ Para medir o MD5 do CD já gravado: acesse o ponto de montagem do CD ( geralmente em /media/Ubuntu 11.04 ??? ) pelo terminal. Dentro da pasta, digite: _*md5sum -c md5sum*_ Pronto! Confira as mensagens, se tudo estiver OK, você vai ver na tela a palavra SUCESSO em todos os arquivos testados por esse comando. Se não, já sabe... providencie um novo CD com o Hash correto. [Ubuntu-BR] Webcam Philips SPC230NC (driver pac7302)
Pessoal, Comprei a câmera Philips SPC230NC, de chipset pac7302. No cheese, empathy, camorama, qv4l2 e VLC, ela funciona. Na verdade, no empathy eu consigo me ver, mas a pessoa que está no chat de vídeo não me vê. No Skype e Gmail, a webcam não funciona. Nas configurações do Skype, ele identifica a webcam (mostrando o 093a:262c /dev/video0), mas a tela fica preta. Nas configurações de chat do gmail, a tela tb aparece preta e a opção de configuração da câmera é gspca main driver (só tem essa). Public bug reported: It would be nice if /dev/kvm were world-accessible, so that unprivileged users could use hardware virtualization features without needing to be added to the kvm group in advance by a system administrator. Currently the following rule is in place on Natty: w-a-thornhump-iii:~ geofft$ less /lib/udev/rules.d/45-qemu-kvm.rules KERNEL==kvm, GROUP=kvm, MODE=0660 I'd like that to be changed to mode 0666. Fedora has decided that this is okay in terms of security, and that this is a useful change to be made. On my Fedora 15 box, the following rule is in place: busy-beaver:/etc/udev/rules.d geofft$ less 80-kvm.rules KERNEL==kvm, GROUP=kvm, MODE=0666 (I don't understand why it's in /etc, but it is in fact packaged in qemu-system-x86-0.14.0-7.) See also We have already reserved a group called 'kvm' in the setup package, so no need for yet another called 'vm'. The /dev/kvm should be chgrp kvm by default. That said I agree with Mark that it'd be desirable to also make it possible to just any normal user access to /dev/kvm out of the box, so libvirt's per-user qemu:///session connection can be used from https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=481260 . I'm working on a software package that would benefit from unprivileged remote users being able to access kvm, so this change would be beneficial to me. Right, so the 750 second reload bit may only work in some configurations. I'd like to get as much information about peoples' configurations to ascertain why this works for some, and not others. If we move the start condition for samba to 'stopped rc', that will possibly break other peoples' configurations that may be depending on samba to start before rc.local, which happens just before 'stopped rc', so that is not a viable generic solution, though it does sound like a decent workaround for affected users. Please, users who are affected, open new reports and link to them here. There is just way too much noise here for the issue to be clear. I think we could disagree elsewhere on whether icons in menus should be symbolic, while agreeing here on whether these Back and Forward buttons should. They're quite different contexts. (For example, Back and Forward menu items don't have icons at all.) I'm all in favor of switching from manual to automatic symbolic icons, but that doesn't seem to bear on the artistic issue here. And a prefab Back+Forward widget would be nifty, but I don't see that bears on this issue either. It would just be decided in a different place. So, here's the crux. Can you imagine any program, that would use the standard icon theme (e.g. not kids games), for which the most appropriate Back and Forward icons should be colored round-tipped ➜ arrows? If not, this bug is in the Humanity icon theme. If so, though, should Firefox be one of those programs? If so, what distinguishes USC from Firefox? [Bug 840790] [NEW] Network Manager cannot configure Belkin network interface.
Public bug reported: I am using a Belkin device Bus 002 Device 002: ID 050d:935b Belkin Components I have successfully compiled the kernel module DPO_RT3070_LinuxSTA_V2.3.0.2_20100412 against 2.6.38-11 kernel version (Ubuntu 11.04) and thus my network interface ra0 is up. I believe I have configured the inferface properly in /etc/network/interfaces: auto ra0 iface ra0 inet dhcp wpa-driver wext wpa-ssid MYSSID wpa-ap-scan 1 wpa-proto RSN wpa-pairwise CCMP wpa-group CCMP wpa-key-mgmt WPA-PSK wpa-psk MYPSK since stopping network-manager and doing ifdown ra0 / ifup ra0 gives me a rock stable connection. However, with Network Manager applet there are three behaviors : a) either it keeps asking me for password, tries out for about 15 seconds and then it fails and asks me again for the password. This happens after reboot. b) or connects to a IP address which I don't have on my lan: inet addr:10.42.43.1. This happens after ifdown ra0 and starting network manager. c) manages to connect, but it disconnects about 11 seconds, and starts asking for password (again, after reboot). I believe this is a network-manager bug, since on version 10.10 that I upgraded from yesterday everything worked with the same driver / configuration (But compiled for kernel 2.6.35-28). One more thing, I had to change NetworkManager.conf to managed=true, otherwise the applet did not report any WiFi connections and showed a greyed out icon with an exclamation mark. Just a note: Recompile adplug library with the same version of GCC/g++, else you will get random SEGFAULTS at startup (c++ ABI sometimes changes between the GCC major releases).
