[Bug 684875] Re: Patch to Natty 2.6.37-virtual breaks non-EC2 users
I don't suppose there's any chance of fixing this for Maverick as well? I believe that this is the cause of the verification failure in bug 720558, and I think that any attempt to work around this in GRUB would probably do more harm than good. Comment #2 on this bug suggests that cloud-init should no longer require the /dev/sd* names in Maverick, but I don't know what effect renaming them in a stable release would have on people. However, I'm not sure how people would be using Maverick in Xen anyway, as bug 720558 renders installation using d-i impossible, and it sounds like this bug is pretty fatal for many other use cases. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684875 Title: Patch to Natty 2.6.37-virtual breaks non-EC2 users To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/684875/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 684875] Re: Patch to Natty 2.6.37-virtual breaks non-EC2 users
Scott Moser has explained to me why this is probably too invasive to fix in Maverick (hardcoded device names in /etc/fstab). I think I have an idea for how to work around this in Maverick's grub package by observing that an earlier comment in this bug indicates that the xen-blkfront /dev/sd* devices have a non-standard major number; I should be able to use that to detect a Xen block device.

[Bug 827496] Re: cobbler kickstart metadata dont affect ubuntu preseed
Hi Ronen, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to make Ubuntu better. I work with kickstart meta-data various times a day and I have not been able to reproduce your bug report. Can you please give me a little bit of more information to be able to reproduce it as I was unable to? Information such as: - Are you using profiles or systems? - Are you modifying correctly the preseed to use the kickstart meta-data? - are you viewing the preseed by directly opening the file, or by viewing it through cobbler? I have to tried to reproduce this but without success by doing the following: sudo cobbler profile edit --name oneiric-i386 --ksmeta=user=testing Then I did the lines you list above to the preseed, and executed the following command to see the preseed that the machine that PXe's will use: sudo cobbler profile getks --name oneiric-i386 and the result was the following: ubuntu@cobbler:~$ sudo cobbler profile getks --name oneiric-4-i386 d-i base-installer/kernel/image string linux-generic d-i passwd/root-login boolean false d-i passwd/make-user boolean true d-i passwd/user-fullname string testing Which means the kickstart meta-data has been evaluated correctly. The same happens when doing this on systems instead of profiles. This actually would invalidate this bug report. Please, it would be helpful if you would be able to provide the requested information. Thank you again for taking the time to report this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cobbler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/827496 Title: cobbler kickstart metadata dont affect ubuntu preseed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cobbler/+bug/827496/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 842845] Re: problems starting multiple lxc instances concurrently
With the debdiff above, I can still very rarely reproduce this - it's the same cause - nova is calling get_info while libvirt is still setting the cgroups. The nova-compute.log shows the unhandled exception now at _get_power_state in nova/compute/manager.py. I'm not sure why it is getting to that point, though, because _wait_for_boot at nova/virt/libvirt/connection.py should make it wait until the container is ready. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/842845 Title: problems starting multiple lxc instances concurrently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/842845/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

If his old one was serial, it should be replaceable via an electronics surplus store. Weird Stuff in Sunnyvale has USR Couriers (the best modem ever made) for $10. They sell the same part on eBay for $25 plus shipping. Avoid internal and off brand parts as there's some chance it will be a software modem (aka winmodem). That said, if it's not a winmodem, Ubuntu will support it since the modem will be based on the highly standard serial port and the sort-of-standard Hayes AT command set. Re: [Ubuntu-US-CA] In search of 56k serial modem
I recently found a senior citizen in the same boat who was on a dial up modem and paying, you won't believe this, $24.95 a month for access. I have since canceled that service and have him on DSL for $14.95 a month for a year and he gets 3-Mbs. After that he goes to $19.95 a month. Maybe he has a neighbor with wireless and can share that for free. Bob --- On Tue, Sep 27, 2011 at 10:32 AM, Mr. Andrzejak mrandrze...@gmail.comwrote: Hello all. Thank you to all who replied. Right now he is paying only $7 a month with lafn.org, and to save money on dial up there is also socalfree.net which is free dial up, but I have not tested this service out yet. I did also recommend getting DSL but the $15/month looks out of this persons budget. I'd love to give Mikes modem a try. [Bug 860865] [NEW] ATI Proprietary drivers make grub keyboard work as US only
Public bug reported: I've install alpha 2 a few times and every time I install the ATI proprietary drivers using the system center / Hardware / additional drivers and try to boot, grub will be using the keyboard layout as US even if I've some other keyboard layout set. The configuration is correct within linux, once I managed to get the password for the encryption correct, it will start as it should be, with the keyboard layout I've set in the installation. In my case I've set the keyboard = SWEDISH, if I do boot without install the proprietary ATI drivers provided by additional drivers, it works properly. If I install it, IT DOES NOT work as it was configured but it assumes the USA keyboard layout instead, until ubuntu starts. (this is a problem to me and others that use encryption since we may use characters that do not exist in the american keyboard layout). I found out that if I do install the proprietary ATI driver myself, by downloading it from ATi and building it myself, it will not have the same effect and the keyboard layout will work as set. I guess the problem is within the packages provided by the repository and there may be some sets there that are not generic enough ... I can repeat this with older versions of 11.10 (I'd the same problem with ALPHA 1 and ALPHA 3 ...) If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/859931 Title: Nautilus chashes when selecting the option to send to trash menu option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/859931/+subscriptions -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/859931 Title: Nautilus chashes when selecting the option to send to trash menu option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/859931/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 860868] [NEW] Main monitor goes black when starting TV
Public bug reported: The problem is this: I have an HD5770 card with 3 screens connected, 1 monitor to DisplaPort-0 and 1 monitor to the DVI-0 and a TV to the HDMI-0 When I turn my tv on the screen connected to displayport immidiately goes black and it says no signal. To wake this screen again i need to issue the command xset dpms force suspend This will wake the screen connected to the displayport. The same thing also happens when I turn the tv off again. How it should work and has worked before: I should be able to turn my tv on and off without it interfering with my other screens. I have pinned this regression down to happen in the kernel 3.0.3 found here http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.0.3-oneiric/ But it is alright in the kernel 3.0.2 found here http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.0.2-oneiric/ This is the changes made between 3.0.2 and 3.0.3 that i think has something to do with my problem.
