Hi!
Here it is:
---
.I try to run the following command as given in the official wiki-page
for edgy beta:
gksu update-manager -c -d
.the ouput is:
warnings.warn(apt API not stable yet, FutureWarning)
.and in the Software updates dialog appears a new window informing the
following:
Cannot install all available updates
Some updates require the removal of further software. Use the function
Mark All Upgrades of the package manager Synaptic or run sudo
apt-get dist-upgrade in a terminal to update your system completely.
Following updates will be skipped:
build-essential
checkinstall
dpkg-dev
fakeroot
g++
libc6-dev
.Then i hit upgrade in the Software updates dialog.
Again Upgrade to skip the release notes reading.
.and... :
Third party sources disabled
Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You can
re-enable them after the upgrade with the 'software-properties' tool or
with synaptic.
.I hit close and it seems to carry on with the update process. But,
when it comes to Fetching and installing the upgrades... a new window
appears sayin':
Can't install 'ubuntu-desktop'
It was impossible to install a required package. Please report this as a
bug.
and in the next window:
Could not calculate the upgrade
A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include
the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.
I hit close and some restore actions follow.

Cheers,
Nikos.

Ok. These are two different bugs.
Nikos - could you give us more information. What happened? What errors
did you get?
2hansen - could you start a new bug with the information you posted
here? Thanks
