[Bug 882588] [NEW] LibreOffice opens repeatedly when browsing with Mozilla Firefox or reading mail with Mozilla Thunderbird
Public bug reported: With LibreOffice 3.4.3 for Ubuntu Oneiric, LibreOffice is launched without being requested to do so when browsing using Firefox or reading e-mail with Thunderbird. The problem goes away if the package mozilla- libreoffice is removed. [Bug 453330] Re: [Karmic] pipes are somewhat brocken
I have a tgz file that weighs in at 4Gb because it is a backup of my system produced with the SimpleBackup utility, stored to an Iomega 500Gb USB drive. When I try to untar this file, whether on Windows XP with 7zip, or on my Ubuntu Lucid Aspire One netbook, I systematically get the EOF error message, for example, when using the Archive Mounter or the Extract here command from Nautilus. The version of tar installed on my system is 1.22-2. My questions are : What is the point of making backups if one can't then replay them back when needed (as is my case at the moment) because the utility is faulty (under the most commonly used circumstances) ? Has this bug really been fixed ? In my case at least, it would appear not to have been. [Bug 106155] Re: Sbackup should report when a backup fails
Hello all, I have a question : Does this new improved nssbackup check to see whether the file system it is writing to supports file sizes of more than 4Gb ? Why ? Because, as others have pointed out here, guaranteeing data integrity in an End User backup product (or any backup product for that matter) is an absolute requirement. I have just discovered (as in today), whilst attempting to restore my system after a motherboard burn out, that sbackup fails on big writes to VFAT external USB drives without warning to the user, thereby producing corrupted tgz files which are useless for the purposes of restoring my system. As a business user, this is unacceptable (and even as a personal user, I am mightily upset (an understatement). Essentially, I have 3 months of absolutely useless backups because I put my good faith in a touted as mainstream End User backup solution. If I were a more vindictive person, I would sue the backside off the persons or entity responsible (Canonical included) for making this software available, and as a lawyer, believe me that would be easy to do, irrespective of all the leakridden liability waivers that may or may not be apparent to the user (of which there are none with sbackup via the graphical interface at least AFAIK). Get it right before you release it into the mainstream distro, otherwise someone, somewhere will end up suing you. I sincerely hope that nssbackup is better, for everyone's sake. [Bug 563387] Re: X Server crashes due probably due to wacom tablet driver
I might add that plugging in or plugging out the USB cable causes GDM to exit without saving and restart. In Karmic, the Xserver just used to freeze occasionally or cause text on screen to be selected without releasing the selection mechanism. The only way out of this was to unplug the Wacom tablet, but at least it didn't cause X to crash. Now it crashes, quits the session and returns the user to the login screen. It seems to be indiscriminate in when it happens, in that I haven't noticed an increase in system load for example. However, every time I pull out the cable or plug it back, X crashes. [Bug 576531] Re: netdiscovery: relocation error segfault
Sigh, this bug also affects me, below is the output when starting xscanimage or xsane from a terminal in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx : netdiscovery: relocation error: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libnss_files.so.2: symbol strcmp, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference I might add that this worked flawlessy with Karmic over the local network. I have tried re-installing the official Samsung drivers, and network enabled printing configuration works fine, the printer is detected and configured correctly and printing works (as it did in any case before the driver re-installation). However, the scanner list that is called up via the Samsung utility shows no network scanner any longer). I am in a professional office environment where I used to scan all incoming mail documents over the network, so the fact that this has ceased to function with the upgrade to Lucid Lynx is a major issue for me.
