** Description changed: Hi there, - I've remark a new bug that is interesting. I use exclusively Ubuntu 8.10 on my macbook 3,1 and when I reduce the luminosity of my screen (touch F1 on my Mac) at a moment it becomes completely dark (no light anymore). Then, I can press F2 to raise the light. Ok. Now the problem. If I press on F1 too long, I can't get my light again by pressing F2. In fact, I tried 5 times in row. The 2 first time I reboot, then I tried successfully only restarting Xorg (ctrl+alt+backspace). So I tried and tried and finally press on F1 quickly, step by step and analysed the behaviour. First, the screen becomes black before reaching the extreme left of the luminosity's progress bar that appears in the center of the screen. So, when it becomes black I stop, then try F2 and get my light (low) again and everything works fine. So I press again F1, it's dark, again F1, it's still black, and then pressing twice F2 is OK, light is back. I tried pressing 3 times F1 (1st it's black, 2nd and 3rd it remains black) but I still can get my light again by pressing 3 times F2. Next try: pressing 4 times F1. Then, it's too much. I can't raise the luminosity anymore. I have to restart X and the whole session. I hope that these details will help you. In general, we press the button to darken the screen some time till it's ok. i. e. to cut temporarily the light. So it goes directly at the extreme point where there is no light and after, when you want your light again by pressing F2, there is no result... Except of that, everything works perfectly (screen off when I close my Macbook, hibernating, and so on). I have a Intel GMA graphic chipset. Even Compiz Fusion work perfeclty. I think the problem should come from Gnome or Xorg. I haven't a clue. [Bug 311710] Re: The Gimp windows do not fit with my screen, the bottom is always outside
Hi Lupine. You're right, the position and the size of the boxes are memorized, I was speaking about the first launch, i. e. when you've just installed the system and then you try The Gimp. In fact, that's not a problem for me, because I'm used to Ubuntu and I resize the windows in 5 seconds, but for a new user, he has to know that they are still some tools in the back of the hidden boxes and he has to try to resize it himself. He could be a frustration point for him. After that, there is no problem at all but... ok it's a minor bug. I just wanted to tell it ;-) -- The Gimp windows do not fit with my screen, the bottom is always outside https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

+ In general, we press the button to darken the screen some time till it's ok. i. e. to cut temporarily the light. [Bug 313435] [NEW] Gnome's mouse paralysed and remains while playing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: glest When launching Glest, the desktop is rezised to the Glest resolution (then appears some black flashings but it's normal I think) because Glest's max resolution is low. During this process, it often occurs (almost always) that the Gnome's mouse is paralysed and printed in the middle of the screen. Then, Glest works perfectly and the mouse is OK (the red one) but the Gnome mouse remains as if it was layer on the game. It remains on the menu, on the loading, on the game, etc. That's annoying and I don't find any reason for this problem. PS : my graphic chipset works perfectly (Intel GMA) and Compiz is deactivated when I play because if it is, the full screen is always disturbed into a window during the game. ** Affects: glest (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: glest mouse paralysed -- Gnome's mouse paralysed and remains while playing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313435 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 311710] Re: The Gimp windows do not fit with my screen, the bottom is always outside

[Bug 311710] [NEW] The Gimp windows do not fit with my screen, the bottom is always outside
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp In fact, this is a minor bug I think, not really preventing from using the Gimp. At first launch of the Gimp program, firstly the windows are always too big for the screen (1280*800) and secondly the top is starting at the middle of the screen. That's easy to correct (I move the windows, then I rezise them) but it's very annoying and it's a bug I encounter since some versions of Ubuntu. The starting of Gimp should fit the windows to the screen of the users. That's it. Hope it'll help to improve another point of Ubuntu :-P ** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- The Gimp windows do not fit with my screen, the bottom is always outside https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Ubuntu-be] Création d'un LUG à Couvin et environs (Viroinval, Chimay…)
Oye oye gentes dames ! J'attends les volontaires avec impatience ;-) -- Aurélien Paulus Étudiant en traduction (anglais-allemand) http://www.aurelienpaulus.net -- ubuntu-be mailing list / mailto:ubuntu-be@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-be
