Your packages' mirror doesn't seem to be up-to-date. This error has been
fixed in murrine-themes 0.98.2ubuntu1 a few days ago, but you're still
 trying to install 0.98.2.

It must be 4 as the version 5 in the karmic repository can't be joined into

5.4 direct from Likewise works though (in a vm).

I think I am seeing this issue on Karmic.
I have likwise installed, and I am unable to change my password.

Using users-admin-Properties-Change Password locks up when
  authenticating, with the messageChecking Password.
Using passwd gives me passwd: Authentication token manipulation
 error.

Is incorrectly showing a list of users rather than the group list.

This happens on my clean and up to date Karmic install and another
machine upgraded from Jaunty. Both installs are x86_64.

Re: [Bug 302026] Re: likewise-open prevents local passwords from being changed

2009-04-25 Thread Buddha
That is exactly what happened to me. Save versions etc.

Basically there will not be a fix. Likewise 5 is not supported on ubuntu
8.1...

I am still having no issue with Likewise 5 on Ubuntu 9.04. Am awaiting the
first pam update though with some nervousness as I believe that this was
what caused my issue.

Will make sure I take a full backup of /etc before applying any updates.

2009/4/25 atin al...@tiniusfamily.net

I am also having this issue, but passwd doesn't give me the password
successfully changed message, but give me...

 # passwd allen
 passwd: Authentication token manipulation error
 passwd: password unchanged

If I comment out the entries containing /lib/security/pam_lsass.so from
 common_auth, common_password, and common_account, I can change passwords
and su to local users, but I can no longer authenticate my domain
 account, which was expected.

This problem started occurring after running update. When I first
installed likewise 5.1 on ubuntu 8.10, I did not have any problems using
 domain or local accounts.

Re: [Bug 302026] Re: likewise-open prevents local passwords from being changed

2009-04-20 Thread Buddha
Not sure it will. I was using likewise 5 (package sourced from likewise not
ubuntu) on Ubuntu 8.04 which was not supported by Ubuntu at the time.

I reinstalled everything and am now running likewise 5 on 9.04.Have had
no issues so far. Likewise 5 is now in the Ubuntu repositories so if the
problem re-occurs it should be easier to get a resolution (without resorting
to a reinstall).

Yes it worked after rebooting immediately after joining the domain.

...However, on first attempt the likewise domain gui crashed when
joining the domain (and in fact crashed before the domain join was
complete. I re-ran and successfully joined the domain. So I left the
domain, rebooted, put back all the files not restored on leaving and
rebooted again. I then tried joined the domain using the command line.
This worked with no issue.

[Bug 354498] Re: Leaving a domain breaks NetworkManager DHCP

2009-04-03 Thread Buddha
After these issues with likewise-5, I tried likewise 4

I get the same network issue when leaving a domain when using
likewise-4. I did manage to get around it this time by restoring some
of the files under /etc which had not been restored upon domain leave.
One of which was the file in previous post. Also not restored (I
think) was my hosts file.

I will try again on likewise 5 again as per your instructions on Sunday.
Will also check leaving the domain (with reboot just in case) to check
networking and that all .orig files are correctly restored.

[Bug 352934] [NEW] Painful

2009-04-01 Thread Buddha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: likewise-open5

I struggled for a good title to this bug report. I would just like to
report my experience with this package which has been less than good.

I have tried this package twice from clean and updated installs, once on
Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha 6 and twice on the Beta. No other third party sw/ is
installed. This in vanilla 9.04 updated with likewise-open5.

I am running using the AMD64 alternate install on a Dell D820 Laptop
(wired networking).

On both attempts at using this package, it installed correctly. Using
the likewise-open5-gui package I joined an AD domain. However, on
first (and every) domain login, I get a Failed to initialise HAL error.
After that I get continuous launch of something. I can't say what as my
the something is started again and again and again filling my task
panel with no end. The only option I have to stop this is to log out.
If I login with a domain account I get the same again.

So, sod it I think. Not ready yet. Not released, no problems, I'll
just uninstall it and I'll be OK.

When uninstalling the package it says it leaves the domain. This seems
to be from a client perspective only as the laptop is still visible AD
and has to be removed on the domain controller.

After the uninstall, and reboot, when I login (with a local account) my
network no longer works. I just see the animated connecting icon.
This never stops and I never get an address. If I reconfigure to use
a static address, then networking is OK. If I change back to DHCP
(good for home and work), then no address again. Not good.

The only way I know of getting everything working again then is to
reinstall the laptop.

I'm sure you probably would like a bit more detail for this. Depending
on what is requested I will be able to repeat, but given the amount of
time it consumes to get everything working again I don't want to repeat
too many times so please be explicit as to what is needed. Note I am
on GMT+12 (NZ).

Currently I have likewise 4 installed and will try to join the domain,
login, leave the domain tomorrow.

I see there is perhaps a feature freeze exception for likewise-open5
such that it might officially get into 9.04. From my perspective it
really does not look good (on AMD64).

[Bug 302026] Re: likewise-open prevents local passwords from being changed

2008-12-03 Thread Buddha

I should have said, everything seemed fine with local user access until today.

Today I did updates and installed vmware server, before I found I could
no longer log in using a local account.

Ubuntu 8.10/AMD64. Likewise Open was installed using the DEB from
likewise rather than the repository version.

Now I don't believe it is vmware that has caused the issue, more
probably the updates I received.

vmware is having its own issues of course due to a keyboard mapping
issue in Ubuntu but this seems to be a known bug with a workaround that
hopefully will work tomorrow when I am back at work.

I have now got access to root by adding my domain users group to the
sudoers file so I can manage.

Everything was good in 8.04. I just needed to change to 64 bit...

Let me know if you need more info and how to get it...

Re: [Bug 173342] Re: firefox crash

2007-12-02 Thread Buddha
It only crashes on AMD64 as I stated in the original bug report.

For the following run I disabled compis and all firefox addons and
started firefox from the command line. Apart for a dialog questioning
whether I want a new session or to restore the previous (I said new),
it crashes before the page is rendered. Bang, dead and now I have a
core file if any body would like it (3.8MB when bzipped)

Note that thomas.co.nz is the only site on which it crashes which
considering the simplistic and very light nature of the page is
somewhat of a worry.

[Bug 87986] Re: [Xubuntu Feisty] nvidia-glx from the repository doesn't work

2007-03-28 Thread Buddha
Just installed the Beta. When I install the nvidia-glx driver from
the repository it brings in an updated kernel which is not SMP. Why
is it tied to a non generic kernel ?
