[Bug 1008058] Re: During resume after suspend suddenly poweroff

2012-07-25 Thread Csaba Lack
I am using 3.2.0-27-generic x86_64 kernel without any suspend problem.

I have tried many combination of power off/on, reboot into Win7and
suspend/resume, then reboot into Linux and it seems still working.

So I hope regression has gone for other user as well and case can be
finally closed.

[Bug 1008058] Re: During resume after suspend suddenly poweroff

2012-07-05 Thread Csaba Lack
Case is more complex then I had thought.
Finally 3.2.0-26 still not as good as -24 was for me.

There are two different ways of power on
  1. normal power on
  2. battery removal power off, then on (it is necessary to remove battery to
be able to switch on in case of suspend/resume poweroff bug)

When I tested -26 I only do normal reboot into this kernel from -24 or from
patched -25 and only this case worked fine.
After I do battery removal power off/on, then -26 still buggy.
Same result (I have dual boot LinuxWindows), when I do reboot into Windows 7,
then after again to Ubuntu with -26, then it is buggy as well.

3.2.0-24 there is no problem at all.

[Bug 1008058] [NEW] During resume after suspend suddenly poweroff

2012-06-03 Thread Csaba Lack
Public bug reported:

I have HP Pavilion DV6 2160eh notebook with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit
and after upgrading to 3.2.0-25 kernel the supsend/resume function
stopped working.

1. boot with 3.2.0-25 kernel and login
2. right top corner menu/Suspend
3. close the lid
4. open lid for resume
5. during resume I can see the login screen for 1-2 sec and suddenly poweroff
(just like you unplug battery without any clean shutdown )

With 3.2.0-24 kernel resume works correctly.

I have openjdk-6 and libreoffice installed. LibreOffice Calc 3.5.1.2

Nonlinear Programming: status of extension is unknown (or similar because it
is hungarian version).

[Bug 566134] Re: brightness-applet behaviour is good

2011-01-29 Thread Csaba Lack
I am also affected by this problem.
HP Pavilion DV6 2160eh (Nvidia GeForce G105M) Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick

It used to work fine (in 9.10).

Maybe because of control keys are swapped...

I can change brightness by set manually in CLI as root which are working fine:
#in this case brightness applet gets the new percentage as well (better):
acpi_fakekey 224 #bright down by 10% (exec it more times result darker)
acpi_fakekey 225 #bright up by 10% (exec it more times result lighter)

   or

#setting this parameter manually does not have an effect on brightness applet
cat /proc/acpi/video/VGA1/LCD/brightness # show current values and ranges
   BRIGHT=50  #values could be: 0-100
   echo $BRIGHT /proc/acpi/video/VGA1/LCD/brightness

If I set manually the brightness to 50 and I start acpi_listen, then check
brightness current parameter in case of keypress
# FN+F7 (bright down key): video LCD 0087
   - results: current=0 and LCD brightness lighting as maximum until some of
the acpi events (eg. power management changes)
   - pressing more times results nothing else

# FN+F8 (bright up key): video LCD 0086
   - results: current=10 and brightness goes to that level (10%)
   - pressing more times results: it is trying to be lighter but after
releasing goes back to 10%

2010-07-11 Thread Csaba Lack
HP dv6 2160eh, BIOS version F.16 (01/22/2010), Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 32 bit
 from kernel.org 2.6.34 stable working fine. ( I used Ubuntu's stock
2.6.32-23-pae config)

- Only suspend/hibernate is working not yet (display does not come back).
- Nvidia working with Ubuntu's current, but I used the manufacturer's driver
- Broadcom Wlan is not working until you patch the 2.6.33 above (downloadable
from manufacturer's site)
- ACPI/CPU temperature now shows its value
- LCD light higher/lower buggy since Ubuntu 9.10

[Bug 528343] [NEW] Network Manager loose wired link when using 8021q (vlan manually)

2010-02-26 Thread Csaba Lack
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Intrepid handled corretly, but after fresh install to Karmic the NM 0.8
stops managing wired ethernet when using manually created vlan
interfaces.

1. NM0.8 managing eth0 corretly (dhcp - 10.0.0.26/24)
2. modprobe 8021q still ok
3. edit /etc/network/intefaces:
iface eth0.200 inet static
address 10.26.0.26
netmask 255.255.0.0
4. ifup eth0.200 to brings vlan200 and set static ip for it
5. NM0.8 lost wired connection and device unmanaged
6. ifdown eth0.200 - NM0.8 works on eth0 again.

If I create vlan by hand (which is not in the interfaces file) it works fine.
   3. edit /etc/network/intefaces remove all line (eth0.200) except:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
   4. service network-manager restart (for reload the config file)
   5. vconfig add eth0 200
  ifconfig eth0.200 inet 10.26.0.26/16
   6. NM 0.8 handle eth0 corretly and the manually created eth0.200 works
fine...

[Bug 383870] [NEW] does not generate hu_HU locale by default

2009-06-05 Thread Csaba Lack
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: language-pack-hu-base

After installing language-pack-hu-base, it generates hu_HU.utf8 only and

[Bug 236752] [NEW] HP nx7000 FN+F4 hotkey not working.

2008-06-02 Thread Csaba Lack
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hotkey-setup

- OS Version: Ubuntu Linux 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron)
- Laptop version: Hewlett-Packard | HP compaq nx7000 (DL853A#AB5) | F.42
- Hotkey-setup version: 0.1-17ubuntu21

- Expected: Fn+F4 should work as Display toggle hotkey (LVDS/VGA-out/TV-out)
- Happend: Nothing

All hotkeys are now working (except the FN+F4) thank you for your great
job. Earlier release of Ubuntu didn't show any keycode for Fn+F4, but
now it seems that Hardy has keycode for it.

Only the Method 2 show the code
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HotkeyResearch)
sudo showkey -u | tee -a hotkey-log.txt
cat hotkey-log.txt
   kb mode was UNICODE

press any key (program terminates after 10s of last keypress)...
   0x9c
   0xe0 0x56 0xe0 0xd6

Other methods (e.g xev or acpi log) did'nt work... no output after
keypress or release

I hope this keycode could solve every HP's Fn+F4 user's problem

Regards:
Csaba

[Bug 57716] Re: Edgy Eft - fglrx module not started

2006-12-08 Thread Csaba Lack
I had the same problem with my HP NX7000-7010 (renew) Notebook.
After you have done all the things from this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI

And fglrxinfo still shows that:
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.4.1)

You should check this option if it is commented in Section Module:
Load dri
(for me it works fine after remove the comment, or if you don't have type it,
and try)

lspci:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 Lf [FireGL
9000] (rev 01)

fglrxinfo:
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: MOBILITY/RADEON 9200 DDR Generic
OpenGL version string: 1.3.1091 (X4.3.0-8.28.8)
