[Bug 1461261] [NEW] 14.04 linux-generic-lts-vivid but no vivid firmware

2015-06-02 Thread Dominik Zogg
Public bug reported:

Hello

Within Ubuntu 14.04 its possible to install the vivid kernel, but, the
linux-firmware package is for an older kernel.

schreiner@xps13:~$ modinfo iwlwifi | grep 7265
firmware: iwlwifi-7265D-10.ucode
firmware: iwlwifi-7265-10.ucode

I had to install the vivid linux-firmware package to get the wireless
running again.

Is there a better solution?

Regards Dominik

I read into it. Fedora 22 uses libinput as input stack:

Among the benefits:
middle top software button can be used to emulate wheel events on the

[Bug 1406940] [NEW] ecryptfs does not work for domain users (AD, likewise/powerbroker)

2015-01-01 Thread Dominik Gierlach
Public bug reported:

Ecryptfs encryption does not work for domain users in an active
directory domain, integrated with likewise open / powerbroker for the
following reasons:

- domain user names contain backslashes (DOMAIN\user.name). Ecryptfs checks for
valid usernames, which mustn't contain backslashes
- There is no pam hook which automatically activates encryption of the home
directory of new domain users

Steps to reproduce:
- Set up AD controller, e.g. via samba4
- Set up ecryptfs-utils on an ubuntu machine
- Add ubuntu machine to domain with likewise open / powerbroker
- Login with domain user

Result:
- Home directory is unencrypted

Additional steps:
- Manually encrypt home directory of domain user

Additional result:
- On login decryption fails with message: Username has unsupported characters

Expected result:
Home directories of domain users can easily be encrypted and decrypted with
ecryptfs

[Bug 1246683] Re: Middle button does not work for scrolling

2014-10-31 Thread Dominik Gierlach
This bug is flagged as incomplete.

What information is missing to confirm the bug?

The problem is well defined, there is a confirmed duplicate/parallel bug
for xserver-xorg-input-synaptics.

The proposed patch appears to work fine for all thinkpads with clickpad.

What is the solution for this issue? Does the patch have to be included
in the upstream code xserver-xorg-input-evdev, or should a dedicated
package be built and included in the official repositories?

Should we create a dedicated ppa for thinkpads, which makes it easy for
new users to make their thinkpad work?

[Bug 1239454] Re: KeePass2 won't start in Ubuntu 12.04 after package install

2014-09-10 Thread Dominik
Hmm, confusing:
As I reported it, it just didn't start *without* any message in the terminal.
So, I used version 2.18+dfsg-2 (from Ubuntu 12.04 repository) instead.
Now I just reinstalled 2.27+dfsg-1~ubuntu12.04~ppa1 to test again and it's
working fine :-)
Maybe the older version repaired or replaced a config file. Actually that
couldn't be the case because I used apt-get purge.

If it would be the case again, what logs would be helpful, if there's no
error message in the terminal?

2014-09-08 Thread Dominik
I'm also experiencing that KeePass is not starting anymore. I think it
started with the update to 2.27 (2.27+dfsg-1~ubuntu12.04~ppa1 - Julian
Taylors PPA).

How can I contribute with logs helpful to investigate it?

[Bug 1358727] [NEW] LibNss Bug 962760 affects usability of Chrome

2014-08-19 Thread Dominik Röttsches
Public bug reported:

I'm affected by https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=962760
because intranet CAs are using name constraints which are incorrectly
evaluated.

The Chrome browser at version 37 is showing a name constraints
violation, which shouldn't be there.

Could you please consider upgrading the library or backporting the fix?
Thanks.

[Bug 1310260] Re: Pulseaudio fails to detect card (probably due to hybrid graphics)

2014-08-05 Thread Dominik Schrempf
Hello,

I had exactly the same problem on an HP Elite Book 840. The solution
from above did not work for me though. I have found a somewhat cleaner
solution though:

- Check the cards of your snd_hda_intel driver
cat /proc/asound/cards

- Deactivate the HDMI cards that are shown above, e.g., with
options snd-hda-intel enable=0,1,0

Voila.

The downside: no HDMI sound.

Best wishes.

[Bug 1343888] [NEW] _get_changelog_or_news does not handle Basic auth properly

2014-07-18 Thread Dominik George
Public bug reported:

_get_changelog_or_news when fetching chengelogs from third-party URLS
that contain username:password does not handle that information
correctly.

urllib2 expects to get the authorization information in a an Opener
object isntead of in the URL. Passing it in the URL leads to it being
passed wrongly, which also is a bug in urllib2.

Here is how to do it the right way (but untested as I do not have
Ubuntu):

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-10 Thread dominik christ
Hi all,
I have been following this discussion for a while because the connection to my
A2DP device was broken after upgrading to 14.04 with all the symptoms
described above.

Following David Henningsson's suggestion in post #71, I used apt-get
purge blueman to fully uninstall blueman from my system. After a
restart, I could connect to the A2DP device with the Unity-default tool
and the connection would not break down after ~1s anymore. The system
did not switch the audio output to this device automatically, but after
manual switch audio output was just fine.

So in short: Uninstalling blueman solved my bluetooth connection
problem, which confirms that it is causing this issue.

2014-03-24 Thread Dominik
And I spoke too soon.

It's not an issue if no windows are opened when the system goes into
standby. After resume, all new windows are fine.

If there are windows open, however, they come back with black borders
and anything new opened has the visual problem as well.

[Bug 1289730] [NEW] systemd-udev fails to execute alsactl during start-up if /usr and/or /var are separate volumes

2014-03-08 Thread Dominik Kubla
Public bug reported:

During system startup systemd-udev will print the following error
messages:

[ 15.089778] systemd-udevd[683]: failed to execute '/usr/sbin/alsactl'
'/usr/sbin/alsactl -E HOME=/var/run/alsa restore 0': No such file or directory
[ 15.090130] systemd-udevd[684]: failed to execute '/usr/sbin/alsactl'
'/usr/sbin/alsactl -E HOME=/var/run/alsa restore 1': No such file or directory

alsactl is present:

$ which alsactl
/usr/sbin/alsactl

but on a separate partition:
$ df -h /usr/sbin/alsactl
DateisystemGröße Benutzt Verf. Verw% Eingehängt auf
/dev/mapper/scaleo-usr 12G6,6G 4,1G 62% /usr

$ df -h /var
DateisystemGröße Benutzt Verf. Verw% Eingehängt auf
/dev/mapper/scaleo-var 7,3G2,5G 4,4G 37% /var

This suggests that systemd-udev is called before all local partitions
have been mounted.

[Bug 1235991] Re: Can't “use system keyboard layout” in Saucy

2013-11-21 Thread Dominik Wujastyk
Saucy 3.10, up to date (2013-11-21), with Gnome 3.8. Thinkpads, Acers.

I am a British English user, and have all my locales set to en_GB.UTF-8.
I have a UK keyboard. I never use US English for typing (or thinking
:-).

I work in Unicode all the time, and use Ibus and m17n, with four or five
m17n input methods (IM) available all the time.

Before Saucy It used to be possible to
  a) switch off m17n/ibus handling, so the native locale keyboard was active
  b) switch between m17n IMs so that the keys they specifically defined worked,
and those that were not defined in the m17n map defaulted to the native locale
map. E.g., shift+3 would give the UK pound sign all the time, even when typing
Sanskrit or Greek.

In Saucy,
  a) one can't turn off ibus handling, apparently. But the native locale
appears as the first item in the ibus menu. In my case it's
English (UK). Okay: one has to retrain one's fingers, but it's manageable.
  b) When I change to one of the m17n-defined IMs, the background default
keyboard switches to English (US). So shift+3 gives #. That is unacceptable.
Definitely a bug.

I've ripped out the US locale completely from my machine
(http://askubuntu.com/questions/58191/how-can-i-uninstall-a-locale-via-
command-line, and localepurge), but it makes no difference. Ibus is
still fetching the US keyboard from some unknown place.

So, how to make ibus use the locale to set the default background
keyboard for all non-defined keys?

** Attachment added: m17n latn-pre keyboard loaded on a UK system, but
defaulting to English (US) keyboard

With Unity (Ubuntu 12.04) it's quite a little bit more confusing because
the OK button is not seen at all. The Alt + mouse trick works and if the
window was maximized before clicking on Build. But the window is not
sizeable like mentioned.

[Bug 1199353] [NEW] Static App Switcher and other plugins don't work any longer

2013-07-09 Thread Dominik Sommer
Public bug reported:

I am using 12.04 LTS with Gnome desktop (not Unity).

After upgrading from 0.9.7.0~bzr19-0ubuntu10 to
0.9.7.0~bzr19-0ubuntu10.1, I observed the following behaviors:

- The static app switcher stopped working: Pressing alt-tab doesn't do anything
any longer. Changing the key bindings to e.g. super-tab didn't change that
either.
- The Window Rules plugin stopped working: I have specific configurations for
some window classes which didn't work any more.

Other plugins (like desktop cube, rotate cube) and their key bindings
continued to work.

Reverting to 0.9.7.0~bzr19-0ubuntu10 made all plugins working again as
expected.

[Bug 1169307] Re: compare, dropbox, rename: none working

2013-04-22 Thread Dominik Wujastyk
I found that if I downloaded nautilus-renamer from

https://launchpad.net/nautilus-renamer (v.4.0)

instead of the older version offered at it's official home at

http://gtk-apps.org/content/show.php/Renamer?content=87601

then it works with Nautilus 3.6

I've also re-installed Dropbox v2.0.5 from the dropbox.com website and
it now works in Nautilus 3.6. I've just upgraded to the pre-release
Dropbox v2.1.11, and that is also working with Nautilus 3.6.

Finally, I still haven't had success with nautilus-compare, even though
it's tagged as being for Raring.

Best,
Dominik

[Bug 1170624] Re: kdesvn won't start

2013-04-19 Thread Dominik Stadler
Translation of error message: libsvn_client-1.so.1: can not open shared
object file: A file or directory that does not exist

This file is part of package libsvn1, looking at dependencies.txt, you
seem to have version libsvn1 1.7.8-1+WANdisco of this package, whereas
lucid comes with version1.6.6dfsg-2ubuntu1.3.

So it seems the custom-built version of the subversion package does not
include the required file and thus this causes your problem here...

which looks to me like intel driver is used, not VESA, or do I read this
incorrectly?

Would it help to deinstall VESA support completely?
