[Bug 1650808] [NEW] [upgrade request] Mnemosyne 2.4. released Dec. 5th 2016 – Qt5
Public bug reported: hi! upon a few month of work, an extended beta-phase the new Qt5 version is out. Mnemosyne 2.4 : 2016-12-05 -Upgraded all code to Python3 and PyQt5, so that Mnemosyne no longer depends on libraries which are gradually becoming unsupported. -The move to PyQt5 enabled to show progress bars with percentages for certain long operations like initial sync. -Improved startup speed. -New command line option "--high-dpi-scaling" to enable scaling for displays with high DPI values. Not enabled by default because it can cause some issues with multiple connected displays. -Tag combobox now expands to give suggestions for tags also when using more than one tag (patch by Emilian Mihalache) changelog: http://mnemosyne-proj.org/whats-new Versions in Ubuntu are quite outdated [1] since Aug.2015 and left out intermittant releases. hi! Anything `critical` holding this off to happen? Debian has recently reached 2nd stage of freeze for Stretch & just 1 more stage is planned 'til FinalFreeze (4th stage). Nothing new there on this subject. Some interesting lecture [1] why it's starting on tty1 anyway since SystemD. The is retrieved from the Arch-Linux-Wiki. ¬ This is not new. [Bug 1643715] Re: Muon package not installed by default
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1530523 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530523 Well, I don't think this is a dupe, as it may actually be quite helpful to have a "real" package-manager. If there wasn't a big BUT: It's not yet clear if Muon will be ported to Qt-5, and I'm not sure if it's good to use it in combination with Plasma-Discover. Since one relies in APT and the other in Appstream. Kubuntu has been undergoing quite numberous changes since I'm using it. So since I originally came from Gnome-Ubuntu with 7.04 - I were/am sticking with Synaptics as a package-manager (certainly as it was stable then and me not ready for commandline). And I can only second the idea of making it more clear that, there is a different option, than a shopping-mall for APPS. I would not think think it's a good idea, to have it installed as default, but I do think this can be pretty well approached from the side of documentation [1]. As it's a similar situation in Ubuntu with the Software-Center, and Synaptics was removed from the 'Default- Installation' we could really peek into their documentation and adopt that. [1] https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/ubuntu-help/addremove-install- synaptic.html Hence I'm still interested in other opinions, especially from the a packagers view-point. I am close to to answering this from my experience since it's been following the KDE-style (Vanilla). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643715 Title: Muon package not installed by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/muon/+bug/1643715/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1640290] Re: Update Qt to 5.7.1
Just for the completeness of the changes I've put: Having added the Kubuntu-folks, since having an up-to-date Qt-version is quite essential for a successful build of an KDE-environment within the Ubuntu-flavors eco-system. Not having this, puts their efforts on a hold to have their stuff uploaded (of course they can somehow or another fiddle around it within their staging ppa's – producing breakage wt the rest of the archive (personal xperience)). [Bug 1579834] Re: update-apt-xapian-index-dbus fails because of wrong import
@ thorsten-1 A good way to find out such is to look at Launchpad https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-xapian-index Any Release/Version is listed there – use the arrows to exand the view. You can just simply countercheck your installation (via konsole/command- line): dpkg-query -l *xapian* or if you know already the exact package name: dpkg-query -l apt-xapian-index -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579834 Title: update-apt-xapian-index-dbus fails because of wrong import To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-xapian-index/+bug/1579834/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1643715] Re: Muon package not installed by default
Well, before you come back on me – let's just face the facts: Muon has been replaced by Plasma discover. The main difference is that Plasma-Discover relies in Appstrem, but Muon-Package-Manager would use APT. The assumption is then, the Driver-Manager needs QApt, which probably get dragged in, when Muon-Package-Manager get's installed... Comments #47-51 in the other bug-report confirm, that this is not yet resolved in Xenial.

Marking this bug-report as "Opinion" to close it's records. Under the assumption that issue is solved with the coressponding KDE- Application. In KDE you can always switch-off hardware-graphics-acceleration (effects) temporarely by pressing: ALT+shift+F12 This will of course also extend battery-life, if you are w/o powerline. [Bug 1643374] Re: plasma-desktop is outdated
The desktop has to my knowledge in at least the last five years never been officially updated – just via the Kubuntu-Developers/Packagers PPA. Ubuntu has shortend it's Release-cycle a while ago to a period of 9 month to catch up, even with overlapping LTS-Releases. As usual in other Linux-Distributions – A release once it's published only get's security-~ and bug-fixes. To tackle such there are now LTS-Releases of Qt and KDE. Especially in terms of KDE (Plasma.KF,Apps) OpenSuse has been urging the KDE-Devs to provide such. These would be able to arrive via the official backports. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643374 Title: plasma-desktop is outdated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1643374/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Those inferior date are then also reflected in Ubuntu... suggestion: (1) https://community.kde.org/Partitionmanager (needs data-input -> simple sample: kdeconnect) (2) https://cgit.kde.org/partitionmanager.git Especially the second item gives dev's an early information of a new release. Changelog in sourcecode stops with Version prior to this release? Debian is in transition-freeze for "Stretch" since Nov.5ŧh [2]. Kubuntu 17.04 has had feature-freeze defintion already as per today.
