[Bug 885525]
I found this bug recently after discovering that I have been losing emails I had not intended to lose for an indeterminate period of time. I am deeply angry, and I believe rightly so. I have a gmail account. I'm using Thunderbird 31.6.0 on Ubuntu linux. The thunderbird UI clearly states, under Account Settings / Server Settings: "When I delete a message:" and gives three options, one of which is: "Move it to this folder: " with a selection box. I selected [Gmail] -> All Mail. Instead, when I push delete, the message is not moved to that folder, but is moved to the [Gmail] -> Trash folder. Why, in the name of all that is decent and human, is that UI option not simply removed, or greyed out, or annoted with a "this doesn't always work" message, or SOMETHING, INSTEAD OF BEING SILENTLY IGNORED? The thunderbird UI is lying to me, and I lost data because of it. I really like thunderbird. I love that it gives me a really nice way to use OpenPGP. I love that it is open source. I love that it is clean an functional. I understand (now) that I can just push 'a' instead of , and use the archive function. If it was just a matter of having to use a different keyboard shortcut, that would be fine. I understand (now) that it is a little complicated to fix this due to Google changing the text label of the All Mail folder under certain conditions. I only mostly followed the technical details given by WADA and others over the course of this thread. Maybe I've gotten some detail of that statement wrong. It doesn't really matter. Ignoring the option is not the problem. Special cases for gmail are not the problem. The problem is that the UI said it would do one thing and in fact did another, causing me to lose data. This bug, it seems to me, highlights a deeper problem. The problem is not that the code hasn't been refactored to either gray out that option or make it do what it says. I understand that this is difficult and time consuming for developers, and that there are other priorities, and that this is a somewhat obscure option. The problem is that nobody seems to have thought about this problem from the perspective of the user. Even a static text message above that option would be preferable to what we have now. It could say something like: "Note: this setting is ignored in some cases. See ." unchecking available to all users does not work for me. I uninstalled all of my network-manager-* packages (pptp, vpnc, strongswan, openconnect), rebooted, and installed just the one I needed (vpnc). Pessoal, tive bastante experiência com versões Linux 64 Bits. Posso aconselhar que: Para servidor: 32 Bits com certeza... a não ser que vc tenha uma aplicação que rode apenas em 64. O fato é que estou saindo desta lista, porque este sistema não vai chegar a
lugar nenhum da mesma forma que as tentativas dos antecessores a ele não
chegaram e um dos principais motivos de não dir adiante, sem ser a falta de
facilidade para o usuário final, é justamente culpa dos moderadores... que
poderiam se preocupar mais com a qualidade do produto em questão, demostrar
suas facilidades, mostrar os caminhos de solução de problemas no lugar de
ficarem mandando ler manuais e reclamando dos usuários.
Minha idéia inicial era aprender e ajudar, comprei livro, um computador
exclusivo só para testes neste sistema, mas com essa turma, estou fora, vou
trocar de distro.

Boa noite... Cara... antes de tudo... paciência... sempre é bom. Eu faria o seguinte: Instalaria um Ubuntu na mesma versão que é a do servidor em outra máquina e simplesmente copiaria os arquivos que estão na /boot para a partição /boot do servidor. Lógico, depois de ter reformatado a mesma para corrigir o problema. Tenta só lembrar se vc tinha feito alguma atualização de Kernel para ser certinho... Actually in my company 6 servers ok i just wonna change one server with ubuntu and client is same know... client is windows thin client pc's so wot i wont to do that client pc's remotally log on ubuntu as well as windows now windows work on RDP and linux doesn work on dat. so i wonna configure ubuntu server as a rdp server so windows thin client pc's can log on. Ola João... Não fique desesperado... acho que é o primeiro passo... Para que o Ubuntu exiba as informações, basta vc remover do arquivo /boot/grub/menu.list as palavras quite splash e quite logo abaixo... Depois é só reiniciar o Note... Quando se utiliza adaptadores USB para Serial RS232 a porta é /dev/ttyUSB0 Para redirecionar basta fazer um cat /dev/tty0 ARQUIVO Essa é a maneira mais simples... Desde problemas no HD, ao iniciar o Serviço de X (gŕafico), ou mesmo a tentativa de atualizar on-line a hora do micro... as vezes acontece de vc configurar a atualização automática da data/hora via Internet e vc estar desconectado... dai demora pra caramba... O que poderia estar causando essa lentidão? Os dois pcs iniciam os mesmos serviços no boot. Alguma dica pra eu saber o que está acontecendo?? É possível dar boot informando o que está sendo feito, mostrando msgs na tela como era até o Dapper?? Assim eu poderei saber em que parte que o boot falha.
