I have this issue on my N210 on Maverick (2.6.35). Screen stays black after resume. I've installed a Lucid kernel (2.6.32). Earlier versions of gaim didn't do this (to my knowledge). In my opinion, the account should just be disconnected, but not disabled, so it will automatically attempt to login again at next startup.
