Ok just tested drm-intel-next-queued on my wife's ux31 (I snuck it away without her looking, I'll probably hear screams soon though). eDP works ok: the kernel comes up, I can see boot messages, then X starts and I see the desktop. When I connect a mini-HDMI to my 25x16 monitor, it comes up at 19x12, which is expected, and the eDP stays on. I tried this about 5 times and it worked every time. I don't have a dongle for VGA though, and it's remotely possible that VGA is somehow causing trouble for us, but it's more likely this is an issue with some other aspect of your configuration... [Bug 460664] Re: White screen of death on Dell Studio 15
Well, I'm a bit confused by this one. The fix we put together for Jaunty should already be in the kernel, but based on the pictures it does look like we're programming a bad mode. The machine should still be up though, so it would be good to get logs with DRM debugging enabled (you can force this by loading the drm module with the debug=1 option, though on recent kernels you might need to use debug=4 or debug=5). I'd also like to get a copy of the vbios for this machine: # cd /sys/devices/pci\:00/\:00\:02.0/ # echo 1 rom # cat rom /tmp/rom.bin # echo 0 rom If we end up using the EDID on this machine, then maybe the fix didn't make it upstream. In that case this kernel patch might help: diff --git a/drivers/gpu/drm/drm_edid.c b/drivers/gpu/drm/drm_edid.c index 3c0d2b3..2c2f08b 100644 --- a/drivers/gpu/drm/drm_edid.c +++ b/drivers/gpu/drm/drm_edid.c @@ -647,6 +647,12 @@ static struct drm_display_mode *drm_mode_detailed(struct dr mode-vsync_end = mode-vsync_start + vsync_pulse_width; mode-vtotal = mode-vdisplay + vblank; + /* Some EDIDs have bogus h/vtotal values */ + if (mode-hsync_end mode-htotal) + mode-htotal = mode-hsync_end + 1; + if (mode-vsync_end mode-vtotal) + mode-vtotal = mode-vsync_end + 1; + drm_mode_set_name(mode); if (pt-misc DRM_EDID_PT_INTERLACED) -- White screen of death on Dell Studio 15 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/460664 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 465479] [NEW] hplip fails on photosmart7760
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hplip When using hplip to print to my photosmart7760 printer, I usually see a lot of USB related failures in my system log: [ 1246.230135] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 16 [ 1261.350104] usb 3-1: device descriptor read/64, error -110 [ 1261.602613] usb 3-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 1261.830105] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 17 [ 1262.250095] usb 3-1: device not accepting address 17, error -71 [ 1262.370097] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 18 [ 1262.790100] usb 3-1: device not accepting address 18, error -71 [ 1262.790138] hub 3-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1 [ 1434.870103] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 19 This only happens when I use the hplip/hpijs drivers. After removing those drivers, CUPS can print just fine. Windows also works fine, so I suspect a bug in the hplip driver is crashing the printer somehow preventing it from working. I think I've heard reports of this upstream, but it's hard to navigate the hplip site so I can't be sure if this is fixed in a new release or not. Anyway this is obviously very frustrating, since it means a stock Karmic install will have major trouble with printing against HP printers like this one. There's one patch that's been helping some platforms: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/intel-gfx/2009-July/003148.html as for checking whether you're doing a POST, the main thing would be to make sure you're not passing any args on the kernel command line, and that you've renamed vbetool to something else so any scripts looking for it won't be able to run it (you could replace it with a script that logs a message somewhere as well). -- Intel 945GME unable to wake properly from suspend with KMS enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399362 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 359392] Re: [i965] X freezes starting on April 3rd
Ok so the bug I mentioned in 196 doesn't actually exist, so ignore that request. However Eric is now worried about the buffer reuse we're seeing in the dumps. If caching is at all wrong or we're not taking care to reset the buffer contents correctly between reuse it could easily cause problems. Buffer object reuse can be disabled in the 3D driver by setting the bo_reuse DRI variable to 0 (it defaults to 1).
