[Bug 1742502] Re: 108 and 109 kernel hangs
Joe, 116 puts VMWARE into a loop. It forces a hard reboot somewhere during the init process (scrolls by too fast). If I had NOPTI it boots normally. So I would say, no, 116 does not fix this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1742502 Title: 108 and 109 kernel hangs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1742502/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

112 kernel has the same issue. Adding nopti allows it to boot. [Bug 1742502] [NEW] 108 and 109 kernel hangs
Public bug reported: Overnight I had 2 of 12 16.04 servers brick with the 108 kernel. They also do not work with 109. They work fine with 104. The other 10 worked fine on both 108 and 109. All are hosted on VMWARE. The two broken ones stop at the same place. I was able to go back to the 104 kernel to get them working and pin the kernel version. Just for fun, I set zswap.enabled=0 and they both crashed with kthread starved for jiffies. They are both multi-processor with lots of ram and disk. I have a task from the Ubuntu Kernel team to try this with 'nopti'. [Bug 1434556] Re: tls in ubuntu-push client doesn't support certs with 384/512 signatures...
fwiw, we've had to stop issuing SHA-512 certs for fear that it will affect users. We do have some 512s that are out there yet. I'd like to resume issuing 512s instead of 256 as soon as you believe the fix has been populated out to the user base. At that time we'll start to re- issue our 256s as 512s when they expire. Our normal process is to choose a security stance that allows for the widest amount of access using protocols that are still considered secure. In this specific case, the algorithms to support 512 are (usually) part of the 256 set but yet provide a slightly better security posture and have slightly better hashing performance over 256. SHA-2 has been out since 2001 and I believe it's penetration is sufficient at this point for us to legitimately use it without any ill effects. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1434556 Title: tls in ubuntu-push client doesn't support certs with 384/512 signatures... Apparently this is still happening to many people (including myself) and I'm getting pings and emails about the work-around that I've discovered. This is the script that I use. Don't trust me... research this yourself. 1) I login at lightdm and verify that launching anything from Unity causes a hang/crash/freeze. 2) I control-alt 1 to a console terminal and login 3) I run this script (replace me with your login name. I've called it fixcompiz.sh #!/bin/sh sudo service lightdm stop rm -rf /home/me/.compiz* rm -rf /home/me/.cache/.compiz* sudo service lightdm start 4) when lightdm starts it forces me over to console 7 where I can just login and continue on my happy way with a working system. [Bug 1005832] Re: Intel wifi frequent disconnects
I ack the roaming by Seth. We have multiple 802.11n APs with the same SSID here that are WPA2 encrypted but on different channels. Those affected go into a roam loop. When they connect to a non-WPA2 single SSID AP they have no problem. I've seen this on three different Intel setups across multiple brands (so it's not just a thinkpad thing). It's also worth nothing that it is happening on several non-US laptops as well. We do have APs in use on channel 1, 6, and 11. To test Andy's theory we moved the 11s to 10. However the hotel's wireless has APs up to 13. The APs for reference are a mix of enGenius and Ruckus. In one test area I removed the enGenius and it actually caused more laptops to go into the roaming loop because there more APs of roughly the same signal strenth (as measured via wpa_gui) to choose from. I didn't save the wireshark capture but if you'd like to see that I'll do another one tomorrow if we have any affected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1005832 Title: Intel wifi frequent disconnects To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1005832/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1005832] Re: Intel wifi frequent disconnects
Hi, @Matthieu Yes I completely forgot there is one Debian laptop here that is affected. Also the problems exhibiting here appear to mostly be reason code 2 and 3. On most of the reason code 2s killing wpa_supplicant was work-around. If we have the issue again today I'll get a few folks to add the wpa debug to the bug. @Seth So far it's 100% Intel boards. I haven't seen any realtek boards affected yet. However I need to check because I heard mention just as we were shutting down that it may also be affecting two of the Linaro dev boards from different manufacturers. I'll circle with Matt W. when we start in 3 hours and then update the bug.

[Bug 711008] [NEW] sound not playing on overo
Public bug reported: Hi, I have the gumistix overo tide with tobi board. It currently doesn't produce sound via the headset jack. I've reset alsamix to ensure it's ok, check the jack connection and so on to no avail. I see no errors in syslog to account for this. I did this and got the keyboard mostly working. ie - it only works if its plugged in at start-up. It doesn't seem to enumerate if you plug in the keyboard once the system is up. Oh thanks!
