Re: [ubuntu-in] Reliance 3G USB Mobile Broadband Dongle

2011-05-07 Thread Lokesh Chauhan
I am using it. Had to no nothing except plug it in and fix one line in
default config for reliance smart net.
Setting APN to rcomnet
Rest is working fine. Just to clear thing i was on 10.10 and then
moved to a fresh 11.04 yesterday. Maybe 10.04 has its own set of
issues but nm update should fix all that.

enjoy

 Hi,
 Have Anyone configured Reliance 3G USB Mobile Broadband Dongle on Ubuntu

 I can see it in dmesg and lsusb,but the NM applet does not detect it. I have
 added usbserial and options in /etc/modules and rebooted the laptop still it
 does not get detected by NM (Network Manager). Have added usb-modeswitch and
 usb-modeswitch-data. I have the latest modemmanager and NM and Tried all
 options but works fine in Ubuntu Linux 10.10.
 Any clue ?

 Have been using it since one of the beta versions.

 TBH, I do not see much of an external difference. The upgrade process was
 smooth.
 The startup time seems to have decreased, which is good.
 The boot splash does not show any info, which is good for some users -
 personally, I would like some text to keep appearing on what is happening.
 Maybe there is a tweak for that.

 Things to try:
 * UEC (The cloud computing thing) - Looks promising.
 * Install on ext4 might show greater performance increase
 * I use pidgin, as I haven't gotten hang of the empathy client yet. Pidgin
 does support voice/video with google. Tried setting it up. The Video is
 fine, but the audio is not coming out properly.

 Maybe if someone upgrades from 9.04 directly (instead of continuous
 incremental upgrades via alpha/beta), they will see a more discernible
 difference :)

 Would of course recommend upgrading from 9.04

 Well http://www.vandomburg.net/installing-windows-xp-from-usb/
 And if the OP had tried a bit he'd have found a lot of links on google
 and wouldn't have had to waste his time here.
 Or he could just buy an external USB DVD Drive.

Why can't you sue them?? Take them to court about being biased and not

On the other hand why do u need to install ubuntu when you are having MacOsX

 buy a laptop and they only allow mac and windows laptops. And windows
 laptops are JUST PLAIN UNSAFE, so I have only one option and that is a Mac)
 Any help would be very much appreciated.

Re: [ubuntu-in] tataindicom plug2surf jaunty

2009-06-18 Thread Lokesh Chauhan
I use NetworkManager applet for the same purpose.. hardly any issue..
Just go to edit connections and in mobile broadband do add Tataindicom
Plug2surf  from existing options.
select auto connection to be active.
You will just have to plug in the usb to get it connected automatically.
Much less hassle than wvdial conf issues.

 Modem Type = USB Modem
 Phone = #777
 ISDN = 0
 Username = internet
 Init1 = ATZ
 Password = internet
 Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
 Baud = 460800

 *Issuing a *'sudo wvdial'* command could not help connecting to Internet.
 Here is the log that gets repeated,
 *

 Did anyone face similar problem with Jaunty? Any solution?

 Trying it with Network-manager didn't help either.
