i think there is some issue with intel gpu driver because sometime
ubuntu stuck on bootscreen and glitches and tearing is common in every
scenario and after booting to recovery boot brightness controlling have
some issue and all tends towards the ghraphics bug.

[Bug 1937072] Re: Incomplete screen redraws

2021-07-22 Thread Nishant Kumar Singh
List of things I have to Inform you what I have tested.I am Computer
Science student but new to linux so I have tested many things.

1. I have used both x-org and nvidia GPU.
After fresh installation and on reboot I got into many problem my
touchpad and brightness controller were not working and screen glitch so i
fixed my brightness and touchpad using ubuntu community posts. But glitch were
all same I have tried many solution but not solved.
so I posted ubuntu-bug.

2. I have changed setting from bios to disable NVIDIA but glitch problem not
solved.
And on using NVIDIA Driver there were not glitch performance were perfectly
fine but on restart
i got stucked on boot menu screen were blank so i ran into recovery and
change my driver to x-org intel.

3. Before bug submission I have tested around 10 popular linux distro all were
having same problem screen glitches.

4. only two distro have not occoured a display glitch problem one was
ubuntu 20.04 LTS and ubuntu budgie 21.04 but that distro causes same
touchpad and brightness controll problem that was so frustating. So I
came to conclusion that my intel driver is buggy and on reboot my device
alwaay fail to recognise touchpad and display driver.

[Bug 1899776] Re: Lenovo ThinkBook 14-IML Touchpad not showing up in /proc/bus/input/devices

2020-11-03 Thread Nishant
Hi, we have two machines at the office with this issue and I don't have
access to either of them. I think the patch landed in the upstream
kernel v5.4.73. When can we expect the fix for Focal through the
updates?

[Bug 1190696] Re: updatedb.mlocate uses 100% of the hdd IO. The OS is completely unusable.

2018-06-06 Thread Nishant Elkunchwar
Facing this issue on Ubuntu 16.04 and looks like the best solution right
now is to just uninstall the mlocate package and install the
MlocateConflictingPackage
(https://github.com/rdiez/Tools/tree/master/MlocateConflictingPackage)
to avoid installation of mlocate again due to some updates.

Does work occasionally now...the unread mail count shows up all the

envelope goes blue once in a while, usually when the system is not in

Closing the lid does shut the display off completely, so I think the

[Bug 893992] [NEW] Messaging Indicator does not go blue on new mail in Thunderbird IMAP account

2011-11-23 Thread Nishant
Public bug reported:

My Thunderbird is configured to connect via LAN to my college IMAP server. When
a new mail arrives, there is only a system notification saying a new mail has
arrived. The Messaging Indicator envelope does not turn blue. Neither does the
Thunderbird icon in the Unity Launcher show unread mail count. So if I miss the
notification because I was looking away, I do not have a way of knowing that a
mail has arrived.
I have tried purging the whole package including the ~/.thunderbird folder, but
the problem refuses to go. Messaging menu works fine because Empathy and
gm-notify both use it without any trouble.

Running this command:

Turns the LCD and the backlight off no problem. The backlight only stays on

should be a one click install solution.

Thanks for that...looks like the System Settings window does not change

[Bug 846955] [NEW] Display issue in new files

2011-09-11 Thread Nishant
Public bug reported:

When I open a new PDF file, the place where the title bar should have been is
empty. Since my default setting for new files is to open in a maximised window,
which in Unity does not have a separate title bar, it shows an empty space
where the title bar should have been if it did not merge with the panel. But
when I open the file the next time, without changing anything, it displays it
properly. The window is properly maximized and there are no empty spaces.
I had reset compiz a few days back because of some mistake on my part. That
made no difference to this issue.

Toshiba laptops have one of the best linux compatibility. I am running
debian on them since past 6 years and this is 3rd toshiba machine.

Also I do feel that dell and lenovo are churning out low quality stuff for
consumer grade laptops. Toshibas never ever had visited a service centre

My two cents.

[Bug 488152] Re: [RV710] With ATI restricted driver deactivated, GPU is overheating

2011-04-23 Thread Nishant
@Axeley That's great news. I have an M92 HD4570, and if the temperatures
are really that low, I'll be very happy to use it. I anyway get around 4
hours of movie time on my battery, it comes down to 3-3.5, but no ATI
drivers, I'll be too happy. ATI drivers have been the source of all my
troubles in Meerkat. Damn, why can't ATI make decent drivers just for
once?

[Bug 757720] Re: ubi-partman crashes with exit code 141 during live install

2011-04-23 Thread Nishant
Same problem here today. I have 3 Primary partitions, one of them being a
/boot. 2 are for data. The 4th partition is split into 2, one for /home and
other for /. No swap since I have enough RAM. Can't delete any data partitions,
and I do not want to touch my /home. What's the solution in this scenario?
I was trying out Natty Beta 2 amd64 on a Dell Studio 1555.

2011-04-21 Thread Nishant
Medium was the worst. Barely any drop in temperature, and the performance drops
down considerably.
Surprisingly, ATI manages to pull it off, despite being known for crappy
drivers. I get good battery life as well as good graphics performance.

2011-04-05 Thread Nishant
I have tried switching to low power mode in the open source driver, but
that affects desktop effects as well as movie performance. Both of them
start framing under load. It also runs a lot hotter than the usual at
around 64-65 while my idle is at around 55 in current weather.

[Bug 709049] [NEW] Network Manager is unable to use a BSNL mobile as modem

2011-01-27 Thread Nishant
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

BSNL is one of the major service providers in India, and they recently changed
their network settings to integrate 3G. They have a new APN and some more
changes have beeen made. As a result, network manager is unable to connect.
wvdial works, and the attached wvdialrc file is the configuration I use for
dialing the network(both 2G and 3G use the same settings). However, Network
Manager stubbornly refuses to dial the network, and this is a major hindrance.
I think the package should be fixed ASAP to work with BSNL, since it is the
largest provider of 3G services in India.

Re: [ubuntu-in] Disable USB port for Mass Storage

2011-01-18 Thread निशांत / Nishant
Yep,

This has got me interested as well. As Arun asked, do other usb devices work
after this. Devices like usb keyboards, modems, printers, etc.?

Other devices shall work.

Mouse and keyboard use usbhid, USB cameras and printers shall use
uhci_hcd or ehci_hcd, modems shall use usb_serial.

Benefits of using modular kernel instead of monolithic :)

Bhavani,

my system output as an example

 bhavani@flyingmonster:~$  modprobe -l | grep usb
 kernel/drivers/net/wireless/at76c50x-usb.ko
 kernel/drivers/net/wireless/libertas/usb8xxx.ko
 kernel/drivers/net/wireless/libertas_tf/libertas_tf_usb.ko

 kernel/ubuntu/lirc/lirc_atiusb/lirc_atiusb.ko
 kernel/ubuntu/lirc/lirc_igorplugusb/lirc_igorplugusb.ko
 kernel/ubuntu/lirc/lirc_mceusb/lirc_mceusb.ko
 kernel/ubuntu/lirc/lirc_ttusbir/lirc_ttusbir.ko

How many USB ports does your machine have? You seem to run all the USB
hardware supported by GNU/Linux altogether ;-)

Re: [ubuntu-in] Disable USB port for Mass Storage

To again start the USB port for mass storage
 undo step 2
 restart pc

You actually don't need to re-start PC. Simply do modprobe -v
usb_storage and it should start working again.

Re: [ubuntu-in] Disable USB port for Mass Storage

2011-01-17 Thread निशांत / Nishant
Pl give me the steps how can I do that.

 modprobe -r usb_storage

Using above command will work until you reboot the machine.

For a permanent solution edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and add following line:

blacklist usb_storage

then save and reboot.

[Bug 488152] Re: [RV710] With ATI restricted driver deactivated, GPU is overheating

2010-11-01 Thread Nishant
Same here on Dell Studio 1555 notebook running Ubuntu Maverick x64 with
kernel 2.6.35-22 generic. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570. GPU temperature
is around 50 with proprietary drivers and 70 with open source drivers.
My battery life is also taking a massive hit, with the usual 6 hours
down to ~3.5 hours. Don't want to give up the open source driver as the
overall performance is better except for this issue.

Hi,

You can have a look at zoneminder or motion both of which support
various kinds of cameras, motion detection. Zoneminder have a lot of
advanced features like creating different zones etc, but its
configuration is a bit tough.
