[Bug 1086847] Re: mutt (libtokyocabinet8) crashes when fetching IMAP-headers
In 1.5.21-6.4ubuntu2.1, if you edit debian/rules, and change HCACHE_DB to from tokyocabinet to anything else (be that bdb, gdbm or qdbm), rebuild the package and install the new package, the crash goes away. This is almost certainly a bug in libtokyocabinet. Note that I also had to add --enable-external-dotlock to the configure switches for some reason, otherwise the package doesn't build, at least with mutt 1.5.21-6.4ubuntu2.1. Please change mutt to rely on Berkeley DB or gdbm instead of tokyocabinet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1086847 Title: mutt (libtokyocabinet8) crashes when fetching IMAP-headers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutt/+bug/1086847/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1338328] Re: Flickr API changed to https-only, Flickr export from kipi-plugins only uses http
So this means we can expect a fix for the Digikam version in the Ubuntu repos in the near future? [Bug 1384304] [NEW] No sound output lubuntu 14.04
Public bug reported: All automatic updates have been installed on my system (bug reporter couldn't find an update trail, so that may be an issue, too). Recently, in the middle of a session, my sound output ceased. Just before it happened I had made minor changes to the Default Applications using the GUI - those changes were only to replace Abiword and Gnumeric with their Libreoffice equivalents for spreadsheets and word processor documents. Launching Volume Control settings, the Alsamixer display had no indicators for controls listed under 'playback' (f3). Instead, there is just an item labelled S/PDIF with '00' in a box above it and this does not respond to numeral or arrow keys. I have tried reinstalling Pulseaudio. This hasn't helped. I have installed pavucontrol. Now, during playback of video and sound files, when I view pavucontrol the blue levels indicator for my sound cards is moving as if there is a signal, but there is still no sound. I have tried plugging in other speakers to confirm that it's not my speakers at fault. I have also tried adjusting the level under the 'output' tab of pavucontrol, but this has not helped, either. [Bug 1368323] [NEW] Issues with UK keyboards
Public bug reported: lubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Package version unknown (Fresh Install 32bit version) I'm using a Toshiba Satelite Pro L450-17K laptop with an external USB keyboard (Micrsoft Wired Keyboard 600 - Model 1366) Keyboard selected during installation: 'UK' After installation, the keyboard logo on the panel read 'US'. On clicking the menu to change keyboard layout, simply 'UK' wasn't an option, only 'UK dvorak' or 'UK winkey extensions'. I selected winkey extensions. The Microsoft keyboard mentioned has a calculator button above the numeral keypad, which with Windows serves to automatically open the calculator app. I used this with lubuntu 12.04 and it opened Galculator. I tried to use it on 14.04.1, and instead of opening Galculator, it logs off the current user account. (Arguably this is still a useful shortcut, but not the one I was expecting.) Re: ubuntu server
Chad, I suggest you stick to trying one thing at a time so you don't get out of your depth. A server typically does not have a graphical environment running on it, this is called a GUI. Orca runs in a GUI. You can get console speech as Bert mentioned easily enough in Ubuntu Server with a few quick instructions. Most people are happy to run a talking Vinux system as a server idle if that is your choice. [Bug 1356509] [NEW] jedit launch icon launches new instance each click
Public bug reported: OS: Ubuntu 14.04 Jedit: 5.1.0 expected behaviour: 1st click on launch icon should launch new instance of jedit, whereas subsequent clicks on launch icon should first show already running instances, requiring explicit right click, jedit, for new instance. (note: this is the default Ubuntu app icon behaviour and is the behaviour that used to obtain using Ubuntu 12.04 and previous requisit jedit version). actual behaviour: jedit launch icon launches a new instance with each (left) mouse click. (even new top dash jedit icon does not actually enable instance selection). impact: a) a real nuisance since at variance with all other Ubuntu app. behaviours, b) puts files at some risk since VERY easy to inadvertently have multiple instances of same file open simultaenously, and thus edit/save wrong one. c) unnecesssary memory/performance overheads incurred, inadvertently. please, is there some way of reverting/fixing behaviour here? many thanks ** Affects: jedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1356509 Title: jedit launch icon launches new instance each click To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jedit/+bug/1356509/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: will the Dash be accessible for Orca in Trusty?
Hi, I believe there is a race condition preventing Orca from reading this reliably. A bit of playing with the flat review will sometimes get it accessible. I am aware that Luke has been trying to track the problem down but not sure if there has been any progress. Is Luke the only one working on accessibility on this mailing list? [Bug 1354856] [NEW] pxe client netboot not working on trusty - hangs waiting for statd and idmapd
Public bug reported: I am roughly following the recipe here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DisklessUbuntuHowto I have upgraded my pxe server from precise to trusty without problems but upgrading the client does not work: the client seems to hang at startup. it looks like it is waiting for statd and idmapd before it can mount the network drives (I am using nfsv3). The old DisklessUbuntuHowto mentions a race in upstart which sounds very similar to my problem but adding the suggested ,rw did not help. Two more observations: if I pxe boot a trusty client via a virtual machine, I do not get that hanging problem. It only happens with a physical client. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1354856 Title: pxe client netboot not working on trusty - hangs waiting for statd and idmapd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1354856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1353868] [NEW] Mouse cursor corrupts when moving between screens
Public bug reported: Often when moving between my primary and secondary screen, the mouse cursor gets corrupted. It often changes into a block with one or two lines, and when moving back and forth between the screens it turns back into a normal cursor again. However often it will also change into a cursor where it is sliced and the slices are in the wrong order. This does not resolve until I do a full reboot. Just restarting xorg is not enough. [Bug 1325309] Re: User can't suspend laptop/control wireless via dbus/systemd-logind if cgroups are disabled in kernel
Thanks Martin. I confirmed that that single change in my .config restores proper operation. No it shouldn't affect power usage, but it's not used in BFS (which isn't going to be mainline, I know), so I'm curious why suspend (and NetworkManager) require it? it seems to be completely unnecessary for the functions I need. [Bug 424888] Re: Brasero produces .toc files containing absolute paths when
Brasero 3.10.0 in 14.04 LTS still produces cue and toc files with absolute paths in them. It is easy enough to work around by editing the cue/toc file, but as a default it's counterintuitive. It would be better to leave the path out when writing the cue/toc file and use only the image file name. That way, the files may be moved anywhere (as you often would with disk images), and they could still be opened and burned, as long as they are kept together. I don't see any value in keeping the path in there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/424888 Title: Brasero produces .toc files containing absolute paths when To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/424888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1325309] [NEW] User can't suspend laptop/control wireless via dbus/systemd-logind if cgroups are disabled in kernel
Public bug reported: This is kind of a long chain, but I think this is where it ends. I custom compile my kernel for battery savings, as I spend lots of time flying. I recently went back to BFS in 3.14 as my scheduler, but immediately ran into lots of problems (it used to give me 15 more minutes on average). The most interesting, that I can't work around is this: I disable cgroups because BFS doesn't use them at all. and when I did, even with the ubuntu linux-source package, I suddenly couldn't put my laptop to sleep, and I couldn't control my network connections anymore. Investigating lead me to discover that start systemd-logind was failing. So, here's my relevant config: rob@kubuntu4:~$ grep CGROUP /boot/config-`uname -r`; sudo start systemd-logind; dmesg |tail -1; ls /sys/fs/cgroup # CONFIG_CGROUPS is not set start: Job failed to start [ 1450.848491] init: systemd-logind pre-start process (10865) terminated with status 32 ls: cannot access /sys/fs/cgroup: No such file or directory the /sys/fs/cgroup folder doesn't exist because CONFIG_CGROUPS isn't set in the kernel. So what is status 32 from the pre-script for systemd- logind ? the problem seems to be in the mount statements in the systemd-logind prestart script: grep mount /etc/init/systemd-logind.conf # this is being done by systemd or mountall usually, but not during if ! mountpoint -q /sys/fs/cgroup; then mount -t tmpfs -o uid=0,gid=0,mode=0755,size=1024 none /sys/fs/cgroup # mounting the cgroup does not work in LXC, there it uses cgmanager if [ ! -e /run/container_type ] ! mountpoint -q /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd; then mount -t cgroup -o nosuid, noexec, nodev, none, name=systemd systemd /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd Testing: sudo mount -t tmpfs -o uid=0,gid=0,mode=0755,size=1024 none /sys/fs/cgroup; echo $? [sudo] password for rob: mount: mount point /sys/fs/cgroup does not exist 32 Rebooting into the stock ubuntu kernel, and I can put my laptop to sleep again, albeit at the cost of a bunch of battery life. I don't understand why cgroups are required for dbus and PolicyKit to be able to allow me to put my laptop to sleep, so I'm filing this as a bug. the systemd pre-script doesn't bother to check if the /sys/fs/cgroup folder even exists, so there's definitely a defensive programming bug in systemd not handling this situation better. currently sudo pm_suspend is an easy workaround for the sleep issue, but my wireless access issue has no workaround. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325309 Title: User can't suspend laptop/control wireless via dbus/systemd-logind if cgroups are disabled in kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1325309/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

When I pulled the cable, and rerouted it, the laptop re- negotiated 1gbps again, and jumbo frames went fine. This output was gathered during the time when the laptop was stuck at 100mbps. rob@kubuntu4:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Release:14.04 rob@kubuntu4:~$ sudo apt-cache policy network-manager [sudo] password for rob: network-manager: Installed: 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7 Candidate: 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7 Version table: *** 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Network setup is: kubuntu laptop - dlink switch - ESXi 5.1 server - VMs MTU=9000 causes problems. [Bug 1324214] Re: NetworkManager sets MTU to 9000 even on 100mbps connections
FYI: to test, you need to have a network that supports jumbo frames, then snip the 2 wires on your patch cable (so 1gbps can't be negotiated), or set the VM to only negotiate 100mbps in the VM definition, but leave NetworkManager's automatic MTU detection enabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1324214 Title: NetworkManager sets MTU to 9000 even on 100mbps connections To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1324214/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I would absolutely second the sentiment expressed in comment #11 - this behaviour of Nautilus ultimately causes issues with the use of other applications, and shouldn't be considered low priority. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184720 Title: Nautilus does not properly navigate symbolic links To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/1184720/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1322709] [NEW] Cannot ignore secuirty certificate
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.04 network-manager-gnome: 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu4 When I try to create a network connection that uses WPA2-enterprise with PEAP authentication and MSCHAPV2, my connection does not require a security certificate. When I click ignore, however, it does not record that. [Bug 1262068] Re: nvidia-prime should support gdm also
I spent some more time and was able to get things working on my machine, so I though I'd share how. Note this is definitely a hack but it works and perhaps Alberto or Tim could give directions on a temporary fix that is less hacky while we wait for the official fix to be posted somewhere. 1. In /etc/gdm/Init/Defaut, add the line /sbin/prime-offload right before the exit 0. Or better, write your own script to call Default and then run prime-offload. 2. Unlike older version of nvidia-prime, newer versions don't appear to generate an xorg.conf file. But with my hack fix, it still needed when in nvidia mode. So after I do a prime-select nvidia I create an xorg.conf file in /etc/X11/ with the following contents: Section ServerLayout Identifier layout Screen 0 nvidia Inactive intel EndSection Section Device Identifier nvidia Driver nvidia BusID PCI:1:0:0 EndSection Section Screen Identifier nvidia Device nvidia # Uncomment this line if your computer has no display devices connected to # the NVIDIA GPU. Leave it commented if you have display devices # connected to the NVIDIA GPU that you would like to use. Option UseDisplayDevice none EndSection Section Device Identifier intel Driver modesetting EndSection Section Screen Identifier intel Device intel EndSection ## Then reboot for nvidia mode. Note that when you want to enable intel mode, you'll need to remove this file and reboot. Like I said, a total hack but it enables nvidia mode for me which is all I needed for now. One other issue I saw was that the /etc/init/nvidia-prime.conf has some specific use of lightdm. Whatever it's doing there, I guess it needs to do for gdm as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1262068 Title: nvidia-prime should support gdm also To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1262068/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1262068] Re: nvidia-prime should support gdm also
Hello, Is there more to this fix than the latest version of nvidia-prime plus the gpu-manager.conf addition? I've tried using nvidia-prime 0.6.2 plush the gpu-manager.conf changes but no luck. I'm also seeing different behavior than when I've tried nvidia-prime and prime-indicator on Ubuntu 12.04 in that a call to prime select nvidia does not cause a prime generated xorg.conf file to be written to /etc/X11/. Perhaps this is an unrelated issue though. When trying to debug my problem I also ran into another prime or prime- indicator lightdm config file that was specific to lightdm, though I can't find it now. I just remember a light that had start or upstart in it along with lightdm but there was no gdm anywhere in the file.
