[Bug 1310292] Re: installing `ruby2.0` results in ruby 1.9.3-p484 as default version
What does Won't Fix mean for this LTS release? Does it mean, there will not be, for lifetime of LTS, anyway 'ruby' would call version 2.0? If you want that to occur, you need to mangle symlinks yourself? Isn't this regression? As 'ruby-switch' package did this in 13.10? Could solution be, to reintroduce 'ruby-switch'? What are we afraid that fixing this problem might break? Who could desire+depend on this newly introduced behavior? What type of use-case? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310292 Title: installing `ruby2.0` results in ruby 1.9.3-p484 as default version To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ruby2.0/+bug/1310292/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1313864] Re: Ruby2.0 not default ruby after installation on Trusty
Even worse is that you cannot make ruby2.0 default, in Ubuntu 13.10 you had 'ruby-switch' package, which allowed you to choose which version is default. Now you pretty much must mangle symlinks manually. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313864 Title: Ruby2.0 not default ruby after installation on Trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ruby2.0/+bug/1313864/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1234120] [NEW] In i915 hiding unity launcher leaves artefacts
Public bug reported: If in 'ccsm' I've set 'hide animation' to 'slide only' artefact is essentially solid background coloured area matching to that of the launcher bar. If I've set 'fade only' it's small (1 pixel?) right border, vertical bar through the whole screen. Redraw on the screen (such as changing tab in chromium) and the artefact is gone for some time, but may come back, without triggering the bar again. I tried 'MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.4' in /etc/environment no help. Above it is unexpected that 'find|grep' is printed with 'command not found' obviously such command does not exist. ${1%% *} appears to want white-space or new line to split, ending command with | will incorrectly continue match further Note, I'm not ZSH literate, I'm not recommending that the fix presented above is used as-is. [Bug 335774] Re: WLAN does not work in 2.6.28-8-generic kernel (Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan])
I assume -8 WLAN should break, if you try set 'cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=EU' in modprobe.d, causing cfg80211 loading to fail due to unknown parameter And that this is expected behaviour after 'CONFIG_WIRELESS_OLD_REGULATORY=n'. With -8 setting regdomain works with 'COUNTRY=$CC crda' ($CC could be e.g. JP). ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- WLAN does not work in 2.6.28-8-generic kernel (Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan]) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335774 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 335774] Re: WLAN does not work in 2.6.28-8-generic kernel (Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan])
I had time to dig deeper and this breaks WLAN in -8, works fine in -7 options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=EU This allows use of channels 12 and 13. If I don't use that line, WLAN works in -8 also (albeit without channels 12 and 13) This problem was highly likely introduced by: commit 22c19fd7f0c32fc1ece047d0d36a4212c64a1ae4 Author: Tim Gardner tim.gard...@canonical.com Date: Thu Feb 12 09:08:29 2009 -0700 UBUNTU: Set CONFIG_WIRELESS_OLD_REGULATORY=n, added wireless-crda When the old regulatory infrastructure is disabled, then there is a new install dependency on wireless-crda. Signed-off-by: Tim Gardner tim.gard...@canonical.com It seems like 'cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=EU' should still work or at least should not render WLAN broken, even though it is described that current method is to actually set the regdomain runtime from userspace, instead of giving it as parameter to module. However, I can not get 'iw' to work, while dmesg does print '[ 79.208070] cfg80211: Calling CRDA for country: EU', it nevertheless does not active channels 12, 13 as verified by 'iw', 'iwlist' and inability to connect to channel 12, 13 networks. -- ++ytti -- WLAN does not work in 2.6.28-8-generic kernel (Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan]) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335774 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

My apologies, I indeed did not check which process is giving the dialog, as I couldn't type outside the dialog, I unfortunately simply assumed gnome-keyring has been wholly deprecated in favour of seahorse. I had time to dig deeper and this breaks WLAN in -8, works fine in -7 options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=EU This allows use of channels 12 and 13. [Bug 256054] Re: [intrepid] new 0.7 branch ignores /etc/network/interfaces
I'm somewhat confused from above connections. I have similar need to that of Martin Jackson's. That is I would like network manager to automatically connect to say wlan0, but on the same time, it would let me do what ever I want on eth0. (It could just the same be other way around). Rationale is that I have some own experiment running on eth0, but I also want to be connected to Internet via wlan0. Or, that I have Internet in eth0, and I want to share it in wlan0. Now it does not work, since lets assume that I'm currently happily connected to Internet via NM on wlan0, if I plug-in my eth0 for my experiements, wlan0 is torn down and is unconfigurable by NM, even if eth0 is seen as 'unmanaged' by NM, it still tears down wlan0 when eth0 sees link up. Now I just need to kill whole NM, and configure everything by hand. What I'd want to see, as solution, is ability to tell NM from configuration to completely ignore some interface, just forget it exists from NM point of view. This way I could easily do ad'hoc hacks, by connecting to Internet normally and then ignoring the remaining interface, connect it and configure it manually. [Bug 322234] [NEW] Can't set 'xterm' like bitmap fonts (not really gnome-terminal issue, can't figure out proper package to report to)
Public bug reported: Until recently (month) http://www.ubuntutips.net/node/11 this produced 1:1 'xterm' like fonts to gnome-terminal. Now it seems that semicondensed is not happening, as the gnome-terminal is considerably wider than xterm. I can't pinpoint which dist-upgrade did this as I didn't boot my box recently, however it did happen on my work pc and my work desktop (both running latest jaunty). Both of them are set to start four gnome-terminals that fully fill the screen, eg: [y...@sci ~]% cat .config/x-desktop/local.rc #!/usr/bin/env sh gnome-terminal --geometry 105x33+0+25 gnome-terminal --geometry 104x33+705+25 gnome-terminal --geometry 105x33+0+525 gnome-terminal --geometry 104x33+705+525 However, now suddenly these windows do not fit in the screen anymore, and I'm quite lost with font stuff. So definitely 'wishlist' kinda bug, so that we'd have some easy way to choose same exact font as in xterm. ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Can't set 'xterm' like bitmap fonts (not really gnome-terminal issue, can't figure out proper package to report to) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 320821] [NEW] After loading background crashes back to GDM. Works with 'driver vesa'.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel As par Martin's recommendation in #320525 I'm opening new bug. Prior to the 'garbled' video issue described in aforementioned bug ID everything was working ok, the new intel driver fixed the 'garbled' video, but I still can't start session. GDM displays now correctly, but after logging in and after background has been loaded it crashes back to X, flashing quickly blue vertical gabled bars. If I add 'driver vesa' in xorg.conf session starts normally. [Bug 245888] Re: Intrepid, on latest updates (mesa updates - 7.1~rc1-0ubuntu1), compiz no longer works and gives white screen on login
Running 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML (as per lspci) here and after latest upgrade (2:2.3.2-2ubuntu2) I lost higher (including native 1400x) resolutions. 915resolution package (which hacks the BIOS so that higher resolutions can work) conflicts with the new 810 driver, with good reason, since if I run it, X doesn't start at all. ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15908945/Xorg.0.log -- Intrepid, on latest updates (mesa updates - 7.1~rc1-0ubuntu1), compiz no longer works and gives white screen on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/245888 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 245888] Re: Intrepid, on latest updates (mesa updates - 7.1~rc1-0ubuntu1), compiz no longer works and gives white screen on login
Rebooting with 915resolution (--force-conflicts) installed and I got my native resolution back. Compiz doesn't work (I get the white screen), but that's not important to me, native resolution is, as bitmapped fonts look like crap without it (TT/AA fonts look ok, but thats because they look crap normally:). I'm pretty sure xserver-xorg-video-intel should not conflict with 915resolution, as evidently it makes no attempt to patch BIOS. -- Intrepid, on latest updates (mesa updates - 7.1~rc1-0ubuntu1), compiz no longer works and gives white screen on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/245888 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 152559] geometry race condition in ~/.config/autostart
Public bug reported: First, I'm running Gutsy updated 30min ago and this did not happen in Feisty. I have this: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~/.config/autostart]% cat desktop.init.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=No name Encoding=UTF-8 Version=1.0 Name[en_US]=desktop init Exec=/home/ytti/.config/x-desktop/global.rc X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true Where eventually these will be executed: gnome-terminal --geometry 86x27+0+0 gnome-terminal --geometry 86x27+720+0 gnome-terminal --geometry 86x28+0+550 gnome-terminal --geometry 86x28+720+550 ssh-add When I first login to X after reloading computer, apparently the autostart is ran too fast before window manager has change to be up, so the geometry does not see window manager decorations (the top and bottom bars). So geometry of +0+0 actually is the very first pixel in the screen in the top left corner. And the terminals will be on top of the bars, leaving empty space between the top and bottom terminal windows. This of course would be acceptable, if it's was deterministic/predictable, but when I quit X and relogin (e.g. alt+ctr+backspace) the top and bottom bars are seen by geometry, so +0+0 is first pixel _after_ the top bar, and I get four terminals filling the screen completely, without going on top of the window manager top/bottom bars. Evidently window manager starts fast enough 2nd time, when it's cached or so. I can recreate the issue every time and it never happened on Feisty.
