tabankg, it's pretty easy to upgrade from DVD:

insert the dvd, fire up a shell, and type in...sudo apt-cdrom add ...and
follow the instructions..then...sudo apt-get update

if you prefer the gui...then...insert dvd, go to System > Administration >
Software Sources > Third party software > Add CD-ROM..and do the needful
