2018-12-06 Thread Scott Stensland
Yes I have a password ... wrt #1803527 I removed all gnome extensions no
help.

UPDATE - this issue only happens when using nvidia drivers installed
using Software & Updates -> Additional Drivers -> nvidia 390 , with
nouveau its OK

** Description changed:

This is not a problem using only built in laptop screen however when I
attach an external monitor and choose

  Setting->Display->Single Display

when I suspend upon resume the external monitor lights up showing the

launched applications are no longer running ... according to
/var/log/auth.log I get logged out during this suspend/resume - this

[Bug 1801108] [NEW] on resume from suspend I am logged out

2018-11-01 Thread Scott Stensland
Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of ubuntu 18.10 everything was fine for days
now when I suspend then resume it has logged me out
This behaviour is repeatable ... every suspend results in a resume into a fresh
login session.
My uptime indicates its not a reboot just a log out

[Bug 1766331] [NEW] nautilus preference is not remembered

2018-04-23 Thread Scott Stensland
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu Bionic Beaver (development branch)

nautilus -> Files -> Preferences -> Behaviour

changes I make here fail to be remembered for example

by default value of -> Behaviour -> Open Action -> is "Double click to
open items"

however when I choose "Single click to open items"

then close nautilus and re-open nautilus that Preference change did not take
This is also true for other Preference changes ... nautilus fails to retain
Preference changes

Importantly when I make same change using tool dconf-editor on a virgin
box it correctly make the setting changes

[Bug 1725371] Re: 17.10 nautilus 3.26.0 fails to recognize mouse middle button to lower window

2017-10-20 Thread Scott Stensland
** Description changed:

It's very handy to send any open Ubuntu application window to below all
- other open windows (it says open yet now occluded) by clicking mouse
+ other open windows (it stays open yet now occluded) by clicking mouse
middle button on window title bar (opposite of left mouse click to bring
to focus front) ... this works fine on all Ubuntu 17.10 applications
except fails on Ubuntu 17.10's file explorer nautilus 3.26.0 which has a
  non-standard looking title bar.

This behavior continues to be OK on all other 17.10 applications...
Nautilus worked on previous Ubuntu releases ... I hope other apps
refrain from using this new window behavior

Any ideas on why nautilus breaks this convention? Or how to fix it?

[Bug 1174162] Re: chrome-browser makes gnome-keyring-daemon use 100% cpu

2016-03-03 Thread Scott Stensland
This issue just happened to me again ubuntu 16.04 ... although not
specific to that release as it happens on earlier releases too

... it was after changing my Google password
... I then needed to reboot for another reason
... after boot I then launched Chrome browser Version 50.0.2661.11 dev
(64-bit) and then noticed very high CPU usage

... on Chrome browser top right of menubar was a yellow triangle
... I clicked it and was prompted to login to Google

... after this login the high CPU usage immediately stopped

[Bug 1433032] Re: Starting Chrome makes gnome-keyring-daemon loading 100% of a CPU thread for 5 at least mins

2015-10-15 Thread Scott Stensland
My system typically runs just fine even with
~/.local/share/keyrings/login.keyring over 1.3 mb with 5000+ lines,
however CPU goes over 75% only when I setup auto login without ubuntu password
prompt on reboot.
I do get that keyring password prompt a few seconds after boot completes. Then
CPU goes through the roof.
ubuntu 14.04As a top-gap I am going back to the normal boot login password
prompt

[Bug 804891] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_timer_stop()

2011-09-08 Thread Scott Stensland
I also just got this same crash
just prior to crash my freshly launched nautilus window went DARK
as apps do when the machine is busy and app is not responsive
I feel nautilus is TOO sensitive to such resource constrained (cpu or I/O)
delays
and pops up with such a crash window prematurely - it needs to chill a bit more
before throwing up its hands and claiming a crash happened

[Bug 780128] Re: static audio echo when playing files with vlc

2011-07-21 Thread Scott Stensland
I confirm what above response #18 Alejandro says about suggestion by #17
Remi

vlc 1.1.9 still gives a static audio when trying vlc --aout-rate 48000

Same flv video sounds great in other players like Banshee, Movie
Player, ffplay

Suggestions ?

[Bug 797222] [NEW] Failed to create directory /usr/tmp/evince-12292: permission denied when attempting to save pdf file

2011-06-14 Thread Scott Stensland
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

this repeatable bug prevents me from saving a pdf file into a dir which has
worked previously.
The fatal error message says permission denied in dir /usr/tmp which I have
full permissions on,
even though I requested to save the pdf file elsewhere which I also have full
permission on and
have previously successfully saved files into. Please advise.
