I have the same problem with mobility radeon x1400. The frontend starts. No 
fonts are displayed. I'm able to navigate to the watch tv screen. All I see 
is a black screen, but sound works. I attach the terminal output. It's 
something like

Same here with Toshiba Satellite Pro A100. Resume doesn't work.

I'm also using jaunty (ati graphic card with default jaunty driver). A
few weeks ago it worked with jaunty. At the moment it doesn't.

From time to time when I boot into Gutsy I get the same error (Failed to
initialize HAL!). Never had this error before on Edgy or Feisty. After
rebooting in most cases everything works fine!?!?
