I believe that I solved my own issue.  I ran a couple commands.
The first was:
sudo apt-get update

The second was:
sudo apt-get install -f

The packages installed and the update then applied.  A successful and
thankfully uneventful reboot later and TA DA!  Everything is working
great now.
