Re: [ubuntu-in] Ubuntu on external device
If you are using Live CD then you can save your documents in a USB drive. The only thing is you cant save the settings that you have made. If you use Virtual Machine or any other installed OS [USB] are H/W dependent. Using any pre installed OS Disk [USB] or VM is not a good choice if you want to run the same OS in Different H/W. I think , I will not able to save any document or install any application in case of live CD/USB (please correct me, if I am wrong). Virtual Machine however is the only choice, but it needs virtual machine s/w installation in all the machines and will be comparative slow. I already tried Red hat 7, Fedora 8 , Ubuntu 7 and Kunbuntu 8 on Virtual Machine. But I want seperate OS, as system has to manage two OS in VMachine. Can you suggest any other flavor of linux, which will be quite fast and portable in external device (currently I have - celeron, core duo AMD athlon based systems). I did try it out many many times by installing hell lots of tools and kernel headers. Everytime it fails. I went to #ubuntu and asked my problem, even gave them the error log only to find out that the driver provided was for 2.4.x kernel. If he gets his USB connection working right that the pppoeconf command can connect him to the internet. I have another connection of Airtel which has Beetal router. [ubuntu-in] Problem with Ubuntu 8.10
Hello all, I am facing one issue with Ubuntu 8.10. Previously I was using Ubuntu 8.04 which used to work fine with my computer configuration. But when I tried to install 8.10 the installation window stops responding after some time. So I searched in net and found that Ubuntu 8.10 doesn't supports Display driver for VIA chip-set [ https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+question/53977]. Now I upgraded 8.04 to 8.10 through Internet and I even replaced xorg.conf of 8.04 with the new xorg.conf but still I am unable to boot 8.10 -- Vinayak MutalikDesai There are only 10 type of people in the world, those who can understand binary and those who don't -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
