[Bug 1875921] [NEW] Wifi doesnt connect when I come back from sleep mode

2020-04-29 Thread Vinayak Aggarwal
Public bug reported:

It tries to connect when I come back from sleep mode but isn't able to
connect. I always need to restart laptop to start using it again.

Also while using google chrome on pressing chrome button the alignment
of screens in mini view is towards left and has too much extra space on
write and it doesn't gets resize according to the view of the screen
instead gets stretched making it unable to identify.

[Bug 1752309] [NEW] Unable to install grub!

2018-02-28 Thread Uchchay Vinayak Dugal
Public bug reported:

I had an older version of ubuntu.
However by mistake, instead of clearing the clutter on my system by firing "rm
-rf *" on /home/ directory, I fired it on / directory.
It took me two days to get to grub> from grub rescue>.
However, the ubuntu help page made me reinstall the OS.
My original CD being corrupted, I created a new bootable disk.
However, now it is not able to install the GRUB
I have a dual-booted windows 10 with Ubuntu

[Bug 1593925] Re: Touchpad not working

2016-07-03 Thread Vinayak Tantia
It has been fixed by updated the kernel to 4.2. Thank you everyone for helping
me out.
@joseph, Where should I change the status to kernel-fixed upstream?

** Description changed:

  Model: Inspiron 5547
  Manufacturer

After the engineer replaced the touchpad, it works in windows and even in
system diagnostics but not in ubuntu( either installed or from pendrive). In
cat /proc/bus/input/devices, it lists the touchpad, but does not recognize it.

To answer your II question first -Yes you can use these repository
DVD's of 8.10 on 8.04 - when synaptic (or your package tool of choice)
sees these DVD's it will ask you if you want to upgrade and you can
choose to do an entire upgrade (advisable) or a selective package by
 package upgrade (troublesome)

However what ever your H/W issues are with 8.10 will i think begin to
appear with 8.04 upgraded via DVD's

Re: [ubuntu-in] Ubuntu on external device

If you are using Live CD then you can save your documents in a USB
drive. The only thing is you cant save the settings that you have made.

If you use Virtual Machine or any other installed OS [USB] are H/W
dependent. Using any pre installed OS Disk [USB] or VM is not a good choice
if you want to run the same OS in Different H/W.

I am presently using BSNL Broadband and Router is from UTStarcom. The
USB doesn't work out of box. They provide a CD which has drivers for USB
provided both for Windows and Linux.
Windows USB driver works perfectly but you have compile the USB driver
for Linux. I did try it out many many times by installing hell lots of
tools and kernel headers. Everytime it fails. I went to #ubuntu and
asked my problem, even gave them the error log only to find out that the
driver provided was for 2.4.x kernel.

If he gets his USB connection working right that the pppoeconf command
can connect him to the internet.
I have another connection of Airtel which has Beetal router. USB for
this works perfectly, creates an interface eth2 and loads the cdc_ether
 module to the kernel.
So I can just assume that it depends on the router provided. Check this
 page from Ubuntu wiki.

USB adsl modems have always been problematic..

[ubuntu-in] Problem with Ubuntu 8.10

2008-12-22 Thread Vinayak Mutalikdesai
Hello all,

I am facing one issue with Ubuntu 8.10.

Previously I was using Ubuntu 8.04 which used to work fine with my computer
configuration. But when I tried to install 8.10 the installation window
stops responding after some time. So I searched in net and found that Ubuntu
8.10 doesn't supports Display driver for VIA chip-set [
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+question/53977]. Now I
upgraded 8.04 to 8.10 through Internet and I even replaced xorg.conf of 8.04
with the new xorg.conf but still I am unable to boot 8.10
