[Bug 969154] Re: Unable to set 1920x1080 resolution in Ubuntu 12.04 Beta2 as a VMWare Workstation 8 guest

2012-05-23 Thread Zsolt Peter Basak
Eric, press the this bug affects me button at the top. I think it's a
similar cause, so that would make someone look into the code.
(Seriously, this is a really easy bug to fix, but you need to know the
code base. Which I don't know, and I have no idea where to start. So..
please, dear Ubuntu developers. Fix this.)

[Bug 969154] Re: Unable to set 1920x1080 resolution in Ubuntu 12.04 Beta2 as a VMWare Workstation 8 guest

2012-04-24 Thread Zsolt Peter Basak
You can, set the resolution. Using cvt, and then defining a new mode,
and then setting it. But. If you set the resolution (i.e.: force) with
xrandr, the text gets unusable, huge. More info on this:
http://superuser.com/questions/416133/linux-guest-under-vmware-
literally-huge-fonts-in-some-applications-and-situati

I don't know if this is a bug in Xorg, or in VMWare.

[Bug 983982] Re: Black screen, half-working Unity after updating Beta 2 in VMWare Guest

2012-04-24 Thread Zsolt Peter Basak
No problem, but the bug can be closed. VMWare released an exclusive 2012
version (beta, can be downloaded and used for free). One of the features
is using Unity without a problem. So ...after upgrading my VMWare
Workstation, it worked perfectly.

Same problem in Arch Linux. No 1920x1080 output at all.

So... VMWare or Xorg? Which one is the bad guy?

[Bug 988095] [NEW] VMWare Workstation + Xorg = Tearing, glitches

2012-04-24 Thread Zsolt Peter Basak
Public bug reported:

After installing a VMWare Workstation 8.0.2, I wanted to work on my PPA (update
my packages), and start developing.
However, right after I wanted to kick off, this terrible glitching, tearing
started.

I have vmware-tools installed, but I have tried:
- Using Arch Linux, with a newer Xorg. The bug still happens.
- Removing vmware-tools, still happens.
- Using Xorg-swat PPA updates.

ONE possible fix was:
- Using older distribution, for example Debian Squeeze. The bug completely
disappeared.

Conclusion:
This must be a regression in xorg. Don't know where, how, why. But it looks
like one.

2012-04-17 Thread Zsolt Peter Basak

[Bug 357218] Re: Ubuntu wallpaper called warty-final-ubuntu.png is made with Adobe Photoshop CS3 Macintosh

2010-04-19 Thread Zsolt Peter Basak
Everyone who would consider this as a bug. Try making a new wallpaper
and next time send them (as a brainstorm idea or something). Still, GIMP
is purely inferior to Photoshop so you should just give up. Use a solid
color if you want to fight about such thing that much.

Why did the team confirm it as a bug? Sheesh. Close it, fixed. You
should (reporter) spend your time on something more important (family,
etc) or help the project with something what matters (report REAL bugs)
and please don't waste the time of the developers.
