Re: [Bug 350503] Re: System (64 bit ) hangs in ubuntu 9.04 Beta
Hi Bryce, I am not sure how ubuntu team is fixing the problems reported, i mean what is the process? A bug was reported but I was being asked multiple times to test with newer versions without actually understanding what would have caused the bug at the first place? IMHO, simply going to a newer version of some driver would not mean the problem is auto-magically fixed. I have only one desktop machine, and when fedora 11 comes i installed that and put the latest nvidia driver in FC repository, the problem still persists so I decided to go back using noveua nvdiia implementation which is running perfectly so far. The problem is in newer versions nvidia driver ( 173.x ) itself, someone has to examine the dumps and find the problem and fix and then ask to test the new version. Thanks, - Basit On 7/16/09, Bryce Harrington br...@bryceharrington.org wrote: We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- System (64 bit ) hangs in ubuntu 9.04 Beta https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350503 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. [Bug 350503] Re: System (64 bit ) hangs in ubuntu 9.04 Beta
Hi Bryce, I installed the 180.44 on my box, it did not solve the issue, the system still hangs, this time i could create the issue quickly by just pressing the desktop icon (gnome) to minimize all open windows and then click again to re-open all windows, do this multiple times while the visual effects are set to normal. the system hanged. The only nvidia driver that seems to work properly for me is 173.14.x, I am using 173.14.18 and it is working reliably since some days now. I noticed the ubuntu jaunty is still at 173.14.16. Please let me know if you need additional information, I will be glad to help. - Basit -- System (64 bit ) hangs in ubuntu 9.04 Beta https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350503 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
