I don't know if it's always the same bug that causes banshee to crash.
It just crashes once in awhile, without any user interaction. Probably
while switching songs. banshee log attached.

[Bug 777112] Re: Notification Area Icon - not working, Ubuntu 11.04, Banshee 2.0.0

2011-05-10 Thread alexds9
Solution:

First of all, get the list of applications that registered in systray-
whitelist of Unity panel, in terminal:

gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist

in my case:

['JavaEmbeddedFrame', 'Mumble', 'Wine', 'Skype', 'hp-systray', 'scp-
dbus-service']

now we need to add Banshee to this list, in terminal:

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist
['JavaEmbeddedFrame', 'Mumble', 'Wine', 'Skype', 'hp-systray', 'scp-
dbus-service', 'banshee']

now, restart.
if Notification Area Icon enabled in Banshee, problem solved!

** Changed in: banshee (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Fix Released

** Summary changed:

- Notification Area Icon - not working, Ubuntu 11.04, Banshee 2.0.0

2011-05-07 Thread alexds9
I know that it supposed to be enabled. I meant to say in the Bug
Description that Notification Area Icon is enabled in Preferences
menu, but there is no Bansee icon in notification area.

[Bug 658649] Re: Xorg freeze without reason in Ubuntu 10.10

2010-11-12 Thread alexds9
I think that I found solution for this problem.
In that site: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Xorg/Debugging

Some issues may be worked around by disabling kernel mode setting. To do this,
add
nomodeset
as a kernel parameter.

I did so, and was able to change appearance preferences visual effects
to normal and extra. Compiz effects working fine too. Someone with this
problem, please confirm my solution.

[Bug 658649] Re: Xorg freeze without reason in Ubuntu 10.10

2010-11-11 Thread alexds9
I keep my system up to date, but the bug is still out there...
Chauncellor, which version of Xorg supposed not to have this bug, and when it
should be released(if at all)?
What can be done for now, except praying?
Maybe there is a way to debug it myself? I am familiar with C, C++, Java and
Scheme :-)

[Bug 658649] Re: Xorg freeze without reason in Ubuntu 10.10

2010-10-25 Thread alexds9
I used 10.10 RC for week or so, without any problem. The problem appeared only
after upgrade to 10.10 final version, so I suppose it could be an upgrade
issue. It would be nice if someone with this problem install 10.10 from scratch
to check for sure.
However it could be a graphics's drivers related issue as Sean suggested. I
have ATI x1250 graphic card and I can't install Catalyst(not latest version and
not 9.3 version), so maybe it's the root of all evil...

[Bug 658649] [NEW] Xorg freeze without reason in Ubuntu 10.10

2010-10-11 Thread alexds9
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Symptoms: in regular use, suddenly it possible to move only mouse, but unable
to click on anything, seems that everything becomes frozen, except the mouse.
It happens short time after boot, sometimes without even launching softwares.
Caps lock responding as usual.
Also the regular keyboard shortcuts not working, Ctrl+Alt+T for example. But
Ctrl+Alt+F1 working, and I logged in, and ran top, but nothing strange there.
I booted with recovery mode, in low graphical mode, it works fine at moment.
I had Ubuntu 10.10 RC for week, it worked fine. After Ubuntu 10.10 final
version release the problem appeared.
Any suggestions?
