[Bug 1974058] [NEW] proxychains-ng doesn't work with ssh on Ubuntu 22.04
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 22.04, proxychains-ng (version 4.16) doesn't work with ssh: $ proxychains4 ssh g...@github.com [proxychains] config file found: /etc/proxychains4.conf [proxychains] preloading /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libproxychains.so.4 select2: Bad file descriptor ssh: Could not resolve hostname github.com: Unknown error Other commands (e.g.: wget) work with proxychains-ng correctly. The Ubuntu 22.04 ships the proxychains-ng v4.16 https://packages.ubuntu.com/source/jammy/proxychains-ng The following upstream patch fixed the bug: https://github.com/rofl0r/proxychains-ng/commit/6265577643cdcdefbc94aef903ffaf5e This patch should be backported to v4.16 and integrated into the next version of Ubuntu 22.04 proxychains-ng package. ** Affects: proxychains-ng (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1974058 Title: proxychains-ng doesn't work with ssh on Ubuntu 22.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/proxychains-ng/+bug/1974058/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1045914] Re: Keyboard layout doesn't show in GNOME Shell session
2012/12/10 harontas haronta...@hotmail.com Hello.i am a linux user since ubuntu 8.04.Linux has evolved till now to a new level which user friendly is not a dream any more..From installing distro or a program through soft center to using the distro as a whole is so easy that a kid can learn how to do it.And linux is the only Os that can let you choose among desktop environments according to your liking or hardware. As i used linux i learned that there is no thing that cannot be done.If something e.x. a device cannot be installed on windows in linux it will play or out of the box or with a little configuration which is mosty a copy paste for someone who doesnt know technical stuff.By evolving to a better Os with new things there will always be bugs affecting users but we are in 2012 already that bugs aren't tha t much as the earlier years and if major ones appear the technical team should be able to collect info and solve them with their knowledge. Finally i have learned there is always more than one way to achieve the same thing in Linux. So i dont understand why it is so hard to solve issues with ibus which i read is very buggy many years now and finally if it cant work replace it with another software that does the same thing or it is more flexible.i know linux is a free Os and such things are acceptable some times but if things are working and working better than other Os that are proprietary it is a pitty to leave so many users dissapointe. Not only for ibus but generally(features, bugs, support).I hope everything goes ok as i realy like ubuntu and gnome shell is becoming my favorite as i use it.I wish i knew programing to aid the team in their hard work. Help that guy named Fujiwarat on git repos who is the main coder for IBus interface of Gnome-shell. I don't understand why everyone just grumpy about the new features and do nothing about it. Instead of arguing on this Ubuntu Gnome mail-list ,sending mails to the gnome-shell list or coders behind, even voting for the Roadmap of newer version can makes much more differences on the issues that we discussed. -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to a duplicate bug report (1059341). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1045914 Title: Keyboard layout doesn't show in GNOME Shell session Status in “gnome-shell” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “gnome-shell” source package in Quantal: Fix Committed Status in Baltix GNU/Linux: Confirmed Bug description: Keyboard layout doesn't show in GNOME Shell session, using two layouts. [Bug 1060729] [NEW] Headphone Jacks state error
Public bug reported: My Lenovo X200s has only one Green Color Headphone Jack http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:X200s But in amixer and I quoted David Henningsson: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51354#c6 - numid=23,iface=CARD,name='Headphone Jack',index=1 ; type=BOOLEAN,access=r---,values=1 : values=on - The problem is that 'Headphone Jack' has an index 0. This is done by ALSA when there are two different headphone jacks and has no other way to distinguish them. If there is no other 'Headphone Jack', without an index, it's a bug in ALSA. Therefor I filed this bug report. ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: quantal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1060729 Title: Headphone Jacks state error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1060729/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 507233] Re: NVIDIA - Xorg crashes (empty backtrace) with segfault OR general protection in ld-2.10.1.so
Now I am able to stabilize the system with the following trick $sudo nvidia-xconfig --registry-dwords=PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x; PowerMizerDefault=0x3; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x1 The /etc/X11/xorg.conf should have a line in Section Screen like Option RegistryDwords PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x; PowerMizerDefault=0x3; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x1 Explanation: According to http://tutanhamon.com.ua/technovodstvo/NVIDIA-UNIX-driver/, the power setting is configurable. I believe that it is the Adaptive thing that makes X unhappy when it switches performance levels. The reason why it becomes stable when an external display is plugged in is also probably due to switching to max performance and stays at that level. Therefore, I simply disable it when on AC power (using Max performance setting) and on battery (using min performance). -- NVIDIA - Xorg crashes (empty backtrace) with segfault OR general protection in ld-2.10.1.so https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The problem still exists. However something new is found. Most of the time, the system is stable when an external monitor is plugged in. [Bug 507233] Re: NVIDIA - Xorg crashes (empty backtrace) with segfault OR general protection in ld-2.10.1.so
To people having this problem with Alienware m15x, I seem to find a way out to stabilize the problem. Ubuntu 10.04 with (almost) latest updates Linux Kernel 2.6.32-22-generic Nvidia driver currrent 195.36.24 (through ubuntu package) xserver-xorg 1:7.5+5ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu xserver-common 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu has been running on my M15x for a week without any problem I encountered before. The flash version is 10.1 (released days before, but it's not the cure I suppose since the problem is gone days before its release). Basically I upgraded to 10.04 in late April, but the problem persists. My problem has been the crash of x server when playing flash in Firefox for a few minutes, although it suffers from random crash when using other applications, mostly when a drawing operation using OpenGL is underway. The problem was gone like a miracle two weeks ago. To verify it I play several flash videos on youtube simultaneously for several hours. A few days later, my GPU fan suddenly had a little problem and I asked DELL to come to help me with it. During that time, I noticed that guy unplugged the power jumper of the GPU fan (which is on the right hand side if you turn the notebook upside down with the battery side near you, the power jumper is just visible). Later he plugged it back again and left. That night I found the old problem came back again. I remembered what the guy did, removed the undercover of the laptop, and pushed the power jumper so that it fits tightly. Then I opened the computer and tested it with several flash videos. The problem is gone once again. Therefore, I think that what Anders Aagaard says is correct. There can be some hardware problem, most likely power supply, with the laptop. -- NVIDIA - Xorg crashes (empty backtrace) with segfault OR general protection in ld-2.10.1.so https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is reasonably consistent with the value reported by du, which is 12,771,740kb. But for /dev/sda1, which has everything else, df reports it is using 22,204,940kb and is 98% full; and debugfs mirrors that. But if we look at what du reports for everything besides /home (we also ignore media too because that is just an external disk) it totals out to 4,398,960kb which isn't even close to 98%. I spent most of the day trying to find what is going on here but have failed. The debugfs led me to this discussion. When I boot my server it is complaining that the root directory is almost full. Re: [Bug 308130] Re: crash when Using Gdoc
I see ,sorry about that 2008/12/15 Chris Coulson chrisccoul...@googlemail.com Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. As you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Once you have done this, repeat the steps necessary to recreate the crash. If you don't see a crash report notification and you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 60388] Re: e1000 EEPROM Checksum validity check should be disabled
I had the same problem, for just about any Ubuntu version I tried (dapper, edgy, feisty) and a range of kernels (generic and custom). Also I used to have the same problem in Gentoo aswell. The ibm-script I'm referring to can be found at the above link or, more exactly, here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovolndocid=MIGR-67166 Try this if nothing else works for you. Beware that this may break you ethernet card, or your system, or both, or maybe the earth will explode. Uh, that'd be inconvenient. Don't blow up the earth, please. # Remove module if it was loaded. sudo modprobe -r e1000 # Re-load it ignoring invalid EEPROM checksum. sudo modprobe e1000 eeprom_bad_csum_allow=1 # Run the ibm script on the respective interface; for me it was eth0. sudo ./vidalia-eeprom-mod-script eth0 # Reboot. sudo reboot -- e1000 EEPROM Checksum validity check should be disabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/60388 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 85484] Error messages during boot
Public bug reported: Fully updated Feisty (as of today) running on Dell Inspiron 8200. Specs as I recall: P4-2.8, 512MB RAM, 64MB ATI Radeon Mobility 9000, 40 GB HDD, Ethernet, Wireless (Dell Truemobile 1150), Firewire. Slow boot, seems to be related to ATA errors with message showing three times on each boot.
