You missed another article at Muktware which is

http://www.muktware.com/3892/after-dell-niam-computers-launch-ubuntu-installed-computers-india

Our hardware is Linux compatible and have our own drivers.

Hi Guys and Gals,

I use and advocate Ubuntu a lot these days to home users and small office
folks.

Two challenges I see when I relate to this article is still very big,

1. In the section Managing your machine "One thing that a user needs to
keep in mind is to buy Linux supported hardware. "

Unfortunately, this is not easy to find the hardware supported by Linux
(and many times that would mean an available RPM) or Ubuntu.
While installing some hardware is a cake walk, installing some others still
means wading through command line. I may be able to do that with lot of
internet search, but not an average user whom I advise to use it.

Probably canonical/Ubuntu should have another site similar to
http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/desktop/
to list the devices like webcam, network cards, printers, scanners etc etc
which work out of the box for a listed version of Ubuntu.

2. Challenges section. "To solve this problem the company can work with
local vendors to sell Ubuntu CDs."

I do not know if there is any company (canonical or another one) who
does that.

On Similar way, I am keen to know if any company is giving Ubuntu support
to check and resolve problems for any one who is willing to pay a
reasonable charge.

If there is a good solution for these two, I am sure Ubuntu can catch up
India very fast.

Regards,
James
