Hi, This is a wonderful job. I too tried some years ago. But failed due to lack of yahoo/google voice chats. Now, Implemented ubuntu 9.10 in a net center with empathy for gtalk. still users miss yahoo chat. but the center owner is so happy to get free from virus. Ubuntu is 2 machines out of 15. You try. surely people will love it. -- Regards, T.Shrinivasan My experiences with Linux are here http://goinggnu.wordpress.com For Free and Open Source Jobs http://fossjobs.wordpress.com -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
[ubuntu-in] Helping plan for a Ubuntu server (lan network) in an internet cafe
Hi A friend want me to help him setup Ubuntu in his internet cafe. As of I now i have no idea what his existing configuration looks like, but am assuming that its a host of standalone windows machines and the internet is either served through a multiport router or redirected through one of the machines. Would be glad to learn more about the best options. The reason he wants to change is because 1. Virus 2. Virus 3. Virus 4. Because another friend installed Linux Mint and the simplicity blew him away (everything just worked including a tata indicom mobile boradband) *** Was thinking , so that his windows addicts don't run away, to install virtualbox, and allow them to run, supposedly irreplaceable software, and slowly allow folks to get weaned away from wincing software. regards ram -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
