This reminds me of sharing Ubuntu Hardware Certification page [0] that I
came across a couple of days ago.

As far as the battery problem goes, I have seen users of many other
brands like dell complaining of similar issues. However I have not come
across a solution or workaround for this yet.

Yes, thats ok - however consider this
a) Dual booting with either windows boot manager or ubuntu boot
manager provides more management options and keeps your original
genuine windows intacts

b) if your windows has only one partition i.e data and os on one then
its time to read up on data safety, windows crashes, virus and other
malware problems are notorious for destroying data and making them
very hard to recover.

did you follow the links, it seems that this particular model of Acer
Aspire has some problems with Ubuntu (linux). Am not sure much can be
done about that.

an avoidable brand of laptops because for some reason or the other

[ubuntu-in] Problem with battery indicator & Sound recorder

2010-09-17 Thread musunuru kamakshaiah
Dear Ramnarayan,
Thanks for replying me,

1) I installed Ubuntu 'Within Windows' (WUBI), because I have only one
partition, and I got a genuine Windows.

2) battery icon is not visible, then I went to Power Management from system
sub-menu, there I changed display option, the icon appears and not responsive
to
charging changes,
3) dear, I already tried alsamixer by bringing some changes, but with out use,

can we do some thing with the help of gdm2 configuration
settings...

Regards
