Now open your browser and type `localhost:631' in address bar. Here go for `Add Printer'. Then just fill in `Name' as cups-pdf and click on continue. Then select cups-pdf virtual printer from drop down list. click continue.. Then select `manufacturer' as generic... continue Then select 'generic' model... continue Then enter username and password.. most probably root user. This should work... If not... then print file as .ps and then use `ps2pdf14' for converting ps file to pdf. -- With Regards Abhishek Amberkar Born To Be Free... Re: [ubuntu-in] Saving pages From Broswer for Printing them Later (Onkar Shinde)
Dear Onkar, I did try out after your mail and indeed its possible to print pdf from the desk top itself without resorting to conversion over the net. I apologise for any confusion I may have caused. However I did face some problem, and I thought you may be the best person to resolve it. I often book tickets at ksrtc.in. When I attempt to print tickets therein, a dialogue box opens displaying the various options available. If I choose pdf, the dialogue box closes and I do not seen any pdf file being generated. Or maybe I do not know the location. I did not find any option to choose the location or name of the file. I also searched my home folder as well, but could not find it there. However if I choose the print to file option, I get the option to choose pdf vs ps, the name of the file and its location. This option was not available earlier.(The file printed was a ps file and I pretty sure about that). But anyway, my question is, what am I doing wrong in the pdf printer or what do I need to do install / modify to get it working?? Biswajit, While you present a valid concern in reality it is not a problem. I have personally printed many pages i.e websites stored in PDF form, from the printers in netcafe. And yes they open perfectly fine in Adobe reader. The PDF printer is exactly what the name suggests. It saves files in PDF format, not as postscript. On a side note I think Adobe reader can also open PS file. But I have not done this experiment myself. Hope this information helps. [ubuntu-in] Saving pages From Broswer for Printing them Later
Many Times during My Online activity I am required to take print out of some document such as application forms, receipts, Railways & air tickets etc etc. But since i do not have a Printer, i would like to save them in exact forum(preferably PDF) so i could print them later on some other computer which has a printer. Presently i copy & paste but this does not work always, as sometimes custom formatting like tab spaces etc are disturbed. So Please Help.
