We also have a lot of discussions going on in the mailing list which if
formatted in the form of an article can be used on the site to help a lot of
people.

Nice idea. This was proposed some time back but was never implemented. Let's
see this time.

I guess there are quite a few bloggers in the community. It would be
nice to have something
called "Planet Ubuntu-in" aggregating their content on one section of
the website. IIRC, we
had a discussion on this, don't have time to dig up the conversation right now.

I don't think we are/will be duplicating efforts. If there is
information somewhere
else why write it again. But there are so many threads on the
mailing list asking about modem xyz (usually sold in India) not
working, etc. It is
difficult to find information about these on 'global' sites since they
may not be very
popular elsewhere. The site is intended to target that kind of audience.

That is the intended change. The website should be the primary source
of information
and if it still does not work out, the user comes to mailing list and irc.

This means that someone has to really dig in heels and create content;
if it is targeted towards "newbies", it would be incomplete without
screenshots etc. And it makes NO sense to duplicate the efforts.

Remember: This is not meant to be an Ubuntu knowledge site like
OMG!Ubuntu. This will provide LoCo centric articles and some stuff to
make the Ubuntu user feel more comfortable.
True, but I remember the time when I used to stare a spartan 'Indian
Loco' web site without being of any use. The best help was in the IRC
but then,it depends on the active participation. I wonder how many are
really aware.

Ultimately it's your decision but I can only chime in my ideas.
Seriously, it takes a lot to convince someone steeped in Windows
XP/Vista/7 crapware to even look at Ubuntu/Linux derivatives because it
is perceived to just "work" (whatever annoyances Windows XP may have).
If you such a user base to start off with, they would need ways and
means to get aggregated content in one place. It would also be a strong
case of more user interaction on the site.

What about creating original content (e.g. "Make GIMP more powerful by doing

improve).

This will provide LoCo centric articles and some stuff to make the Ubuntu

All old content is going in with edits. First we need to sort them out. I
have the entire site mirrored and will upload everything when we get
wordpress up and running.

Also we will have:
 1. OpenID login (so log in with launchpad account = nice wordpress plugin).
2. Mobile site ( another nice plugin)

Anything else?
