[Bug 564330] Re: ubuntu one: unable to synch folder, but able to synch Ubuntu One Evolution Mail Contacts

2010-04-19 Thread duanedesign
Richard,
What about selecting connect from the applet in the panel? Is this occurring
after your computer goes to sleep/hibernate? The error you are getting happens
after the network connection is connected and then disconnected, like when your
computer goes to sleep/hibernate.

After making a comment change the 'Status' of your bug back to 'New'.
The status of a bug report can be modified by clicking on the current
status in the yellow line, which will reveal a sub menu. You can then
set a new status in the drop down box.

thank you,
duanedeisgn

Essentially the data structure for Thunderbird on *both* Linux and M$ is the
same. In fact that is the mechanism used to dual use Thunderbird in a dual
booting computer.

So if the data is imported in thunderbird then transferring it to Linux is
very easy. I also use this mechanism to store my thunderbird data in a non
default location , as opposed to /home/fooUser/.mozilla-thunderbird

How to share Thunderbird is below, (and as i said earlier) the same can be
used to transfer all your data to Linux

  Wincedows (Thunderbird)

   1.

   First Boot into Wincedows – Install Thunderbird
   2.

   Kept the folder view setting to show hidden files and file extensions
   3.

   Check what the file structure looks like (for comparision with Linux)
   4.

   Wincedows Location: C:\Documents and Settings\Foo User\Application
   Data\Thunderbird

   and this is the profiles.ini file

 [General]

StartWithLastProfile=1

 [Profile0]

Name=default

IsRelative=1

Path=Profiles/4kip27at.default

 changed to:[General]

StartWithLastProfile=1

 [Profile0]

Name=default

*IsRelative=0*

*Path=E:\sharing_apps_dual_boot\mozilla-thunderbird\profile.default
*

*E:\ Drive in my case is a shared drive between Linux and Wincedows*

 Linux (Thunderbird)

   1.

   Boot back into linux
   2.

   Opened /home/fooUSer/.mozilla-thunderbird
   3.

   backed up the profile
   4.

   The original linux profile is

[General]

StartWithLastProfile=1

 [Profile0]

Name=default

*IsRelative=1*

*Path=ss91eh74.default*

 the bolded section is changed to

[General]

StartWithLastProfile=1

 [Profile0]

Name=default

*IsRelative=0*

*Path=/media/sda5/sharing_apps_dual_boot/mozilla-thunderbird/profile.default
*

This enables sharing between two drives and in your case it will help you
transfer your data to Linux after you have imported from M$ shoutlook to
thunderbird

**
I no longer use this dual boot sharing as a method, but when i did it worked
well.

The same method can be used for firefox as well.

Hi,

Then, Install the thunderbird.

It will ask for importing the existing mails to itself.

Then, start to use thunderbird in windows for sometime.

install thunderbird.

copy all the files from your windows thunderbird to linux.

you will get all the files.

update us with your progress.

You can also try the software Aid4Mail

I have used it many times for the same purpose and it did its job fine.

I guess Aid4Mail Emailchemy are similar softwares doing the same job.
