Well, I un-installed all packages related to network-manager, chose to
re-install from the dvd repository, and is now able to connect now.

A sort of treatment, when everything else to play a transistor fails,
giving it a big hit makes it play.. ;-)

Re: [ubuntu-in] tataindicom plug2surf jaunty

2009-06-19 Thread sivakumar bharadhwaj
hi to all,

i am a new entrant to the mighty Ubuntu club

pretty happy the way in which Jaunty works - fast (in fact furious pace),
and it has connected to almost all the devices.

I am having a small irritation - pen drives are not being recognised. (but
for the first time when I had installed it worked).

what do I do, or is this a bug which my new laptop has caught ? please
help.

I am not sure that i can do the way you all are doing - like typing sudo
etc. (simply iam (was !! by now) a windows user).

any help would be a welcome.

And thanks to all the people who work for / with Ubuntu - great Job (a very
good OS ).

Did anyone face similar problem with Jaunty? Any solution?

Trying it with Network-manager didn't help either.

I use NetworkManager applet for the same purpose.. hardly any issue..
Just go to edit connections and in mobile broadband do add Tataindicom
Plug2surf from existing options.
select auto connection to be active.
You will just have to plug in the usb to get it connected automatically.
Much less hassle than wvdial conf issues.

I did it in vain. It worked when I had Intrepid, failing now with Jaunty.

Failing with what error? Have you filed the bug? The appropriate
 package is libmbca0.

On second though, is the usb device you are using working anywhere
else (specifically in Windows). Your wvdial log does not seem to
indicate any configuration error.

attempting the connect, the system got hung.

I was able to connect in the same pc on Fedora 10.
