System 76 sells them preconfigured with Ubuntu as well. http:// system76.com/ I almost purchased one from them but I want something smaller than 14 inches; i.e. ultra light, under 4 lbs, 12" max but 10" would be even better for travel. (and unfortunately I need a windows path for work so I'm still looking for a machine I can dual boot rather than just Ubuntu.) I was just thinking about this type of "bug" this morning. UbuntuDemon and others on the forums were all searching for laptop recommendations. It would be nice to have a section called, "The Community Recommends. . . " with a list of a few desktop and laptop configurations that have been proven stable. Everything seems to be reversed at the moment; i.e. there's a list of bugs with certain setups but not "here's what's known to work." 'Large jobs' are exactly what effective team collaboration (given appropriate tools, like a wiki) is able to accomplish :) This doesn't have to be achieved on a world scale. In fact, I think the best approach is at the LoCo level, just as the Australian team (of which I am a member) has done. When you buy a computer, what matters most is how it is sold where you live.
