As far as the DIY site is concerned, there is a list of tasks currently
open/required here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/DIYWebsite#head-c668315e1d65098868477431057118d1b946c916

Hosting is currently kindly provided by Mitch Mahan at
diy.devubuntu.com, but it would be nice if we could eventually move to a
Canonical server, and have the completed site reside on diy.ubuntu.com

Martin says he's got the code almost ready, and once that happens, we
can start adding content. While I have no trouble doing content for the
Get [1] section myself, as it's just a few items - the other sections
will require a lot of hunting & gathering and could use a lot of your help.

The three sections that require the most help are:

Print: will need to find all the material out there in digital format.
However, this is waiting for the code of the site, as gathering it
elsewhere would be redundant to the DIYMarketing [2] page.

Design: should be a one-stop resource for those who would like to create
artwork for Ubuntu swag (Should tell them what's in demand, what there's
plenty of, and give them a few tips). I've sketched some guidelines on
how to use the ubuntu logo, and would appreciate feedback and expansion
on them [3].

Go: And last (but probably most), we need to answer the question "What
can I do to spread Ubuntu?" in the Howtos section. Adding anything into
this section is extremely difficult and will require research. The idea
is to document any activities any group or individual has done to get
Ubuntu out there, along with its prerequisites and results. If you have
any ideas or experiences (or know of anything some LoCo somewhere did),
please add it to the now-empty Howtos page [4]. THIS SECTION NEEDS YOU
THE MOST!

= Addendum =

I forgot one thing. Chris is going to be setting up a wiki page
cataloguing all the things Canonical and the community will be working
on for the release. When said page is created, I will ping the list
with its name.

[ubuntu-marketing] So I had a quick conversation with Chris Kenyon at Canonical

2007-03-27 Thread Corey Burger
Hey all,

Prompted by some concerns within the team about duplication of
resources and my own thoughts about how we can better coordinate with
Canonical, poor me stayed well past my bedtime (UK is +8 on me) and
spoke with Chris.

He reiterated that the Canonical marketing efforts are fairly narrowly
focused and that duplicating the community work is crazy. Here are the
salient points:

= Press Releases =
This will be written by Canonical's press agency and will be released
to the community for translation on the 11th of April at the latest.

VERY IMPORTANT - READ IF TRANSLATING THE PRESS RELEASE
It is absolutely critical we respect embargo on this press release.
This means that if you translate the press release, it cannot be sent
to press agencies before Canonical releases the official English one.
If we screw this one up, it is going to be much harder to get press
releases before the actual release date.

= Features Tour =
This is our baby. Based on the wiki pages of the Herd and Beta, this
will be a features tour of all that is great and new about Feisty.
This will be delivered in the following formats:

1. A wiki page - for primary development
2. Xhtml - for the web and for translation in Rosetta
3. ODF - for general use
4. PDF - generated from the ODF, for printing

I have committed that I will get this done by the 11th of April at the
latest as well.

= DIY website =

This is Martin's baby, but Chris was very much interested in this. He
said they would help with hosting if needed.

= How can you help? =

The Features Tour and the DIY website both need help. If you want to
help with the former, please contact me. For the latter, Martin.

= So where is Christina? =

Sadly, Christina has left Canonical. As such, Chris is now our point
person on this.

= Finale =

Basically, the press release and features tour will be done by the
11th, in time for translators to get their little paws on it.

All in all, Chris is a great guy. Lets all rock to the Feisty release!
