Need help to test/use evdev touchscreen patch.

2007-07-30 Thread Adrian Ratnapala
I just joined this list after seing an archived post from July 11
about touchscreen
 calibrations.

  http://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com/msg00106.html

It said:

>Tim Lawrenz was kind enough to test this on his touchscreen, and
>reports:

>"I installed the evdev and got it to work with my touchscreen easily. it
>captures nearly all of the screen except for approx. 10 pixels on the

>proceed from here."

As far as can tell, Tim's experience is exactly what I observe with the
(presumably unpatched) driver in Feisty. The thing seems to work fairly
well, but is not calibrated. Indeed I can not move the mouse into the
outer 10 pixels of the screen, presumably because of the way it is calibrated.
Also MinX, MaxX, MinY and MaxY are ignored.

Since I want my problem fixed, I'm happy to test out this driver, I'd like
help with the following questions (some of them dumb, sorry).

  * Who/what should I talk to in Xorg about this.

  * Since MaxX and friends are ignored, how do you access the "unimproved"
options.

  * Where do I get the patch.

  * Can/should I try this on Feisty Fawn which I have currently
installed, even though
the patch is for Gutsy. If so, how.

  * Since (I have found) MaxX and friends are ignored in the unpatched evdev,
how did the calibration ever work?

  * If MaxX & friends is ignored, how do I use this improved calibration?

RE: Today's Menlow Daily Build

2007-07-30 Thread Lynch, Rusty
The fix that Rob committed was to moblin-image-creator, and there has
not been a Gutsy release of that package since before his changes.

BTW, you can see this by looking at the changelog:
http://www.moblin.org/repos/?p=tools/moblin-image-creator.git;a=blob_pla
in;f=debian/changelog;hb=HEAD

When ever a given version is released to Gutsy, then you will see a
"gutsy" next to the version instead of "UNRELEASED". The last release
was 0.11, where Rob's changes are in 0.15.

Rob's changes for MOBLIN bug #35 ??

Thanks.
