Re: Wiki cleanup
Hi, This has been needed for some time. I do not have anything to add to your suggestions (i think they are great, particularly the 'works on this device' which will help stop the 'I have , can I run UME on it?' questions which flood the IRC channel :) I would like to help with this so lets make a wiki clean up page with a list of jobs which need doing and then we can go for it...what do you think? Hildon Desktop Icon Visibility Proposal
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Ola, PROPOSAL The ability to switch the visibility of desktop icons without needing to alter the .desktop file MOTIVE Currently on UME the icons are all together in /usr/share/applications. If I alter an icon to OnlyShowIn (the current preferred method) when I pull a new version of the software it will ask me if I want to use the new .desktop file or continue with my version. This is rather confusing IMO. The ideal would be to have a specific directory for Hildon such as /usr/share/applications/hildon-apps everything that I want to show (make visible) is in this directory which could be symlinked to /usr/share/applications Perhaps even better would be something in the users home directory like: ~/.hildon-apps/ as this would stop the requirement for editing system archives CURRENT CONFUSING SITUATION For example, cheese does not have OnlyShowIn but it appears in hildon ...others also do not have OnlyShowIn and do not appear..it seems that there is some special implementation (a.k.a hack) for ubuntu mobile POSSIBLE BLOCKERS The xdg spec doesn't currently provide such a feature I believe just an idea anyway, abracos Ian -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: http://getfiregpg.org iD8DBQFIRVDjZXia3Con1vcRAm/dAJ9eJJCVzfMeMyczIrmnHTt0m2fmBgCfYPXv cC4pQTyRCQnZa7ij/fjrENU= =zQrC -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- http://ianlawrence.info -- Ubuntu-mobile mailing list Ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-mobile

status reports
Hi, This is a friendly reminder that *all* status reports should be sent to this list before the weekly meeting. Glade & Hildon
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi It would be a significant advantage in terms of merging Hildon specific code changes upstream if glade integrated well with Hildon. Looking through the glade site it seems the recent release glade-3 was designed to ease the integration of external toolkits. I am not sure how this integration would work in reality so i wondered if someone was thinking/working on something like this or if there are some good ideas around about how it might work. thx Ian - -- http://ianlawrence.info -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: http://firegpg.tuxfamily.org iD8DBQFHVdHDQAt/jhweq/8RAqMLAJ4jsnXvtxWzaEaOsg5H5yiPlNK4RQCfZU9y 03kMXlcWqg1AobihFbyK18c= =AO/L -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- Ubuntu-mobile mailing list Ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-mobile

Mobile Team Reporting
Ola, At the IRC meeting on 04/10/2007 I volunteered to be responsible for the Mobile Team reporting procedure. This process will help everyone stay up to date with what is going on and help new arrivals get up to speed quickly. I have updated the page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MobileAndEmbedded/ReportingPage with the Status reports for week 2007-09-27 to 2007-10-04 and written a short IRC summary. I will do this regularly after each IRC meeting and then towards the end of the month I will then summarize this page and add it to the monthly team reports here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TeamReports/October2007 If you are responsible for a status report for week 2007-09-27 to 2007-10-04 and it is not yet on this page please mail it to me as soon as possible. Please can owners CC me when writing *all* future status reports please. Community contributions to the ReportingPage are actively encouraged.
