I'm uploading the core components that are open source under gpl license.
You can see the at http://www.nomachine.com/sources.php

Actually you can still see them at
http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/details.py?package=nx.
1 - libxcompext has been uploaded
 2 - Moved debian/changelog to debian/changelog.old and created a new one,
but there are some packages from medibuntu or other
that keeps the original changelog. Forgot to add comments about the
patches on the changelog.
3 - Clarified the descriptions. Tell me if is enough
4 - Clarified a bit, but only freenx developers will execute nxagent. It
needs to be synchronized with nxproxy to be useful.
 5 - watch file added.

freenx-* are the components from the FreeNX server and nx-* are the core
components.

FreeNX complete suite uploaded.

2009-01-23 Thread Marcelo Boveto Shima
Hello!

I have been maintainining the FreeNX complete suite for at least 2 years
and now I uploaded it to revu.
New packages:
 - http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/details.py?package=nx-x11
 - http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/details.py?package=nxcompext
 - http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/details.py?package=nxcompshad
 - http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/details.py?package=freenx-server

Updated package:

An open source client is already at debian repository (qtnx, nxcl, nxproxy
and nxcomp).

What is freenx?
NX is an exciting new technology for remote display. It provides *near local
speed* application responsiveness over high latency, low bandwidth links.
The core libraries for NX are provided by NoMachine under the GPL. FreeNX is
a GPL implementation of the NX Server and NX Client Components.

More information at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeNX

The community is very responsive and active as you can see at the FreeNX
list archive:
https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/freenx-knx

We maintain a ppa at https://edge.launchpad.net/~freenx-team/+archive/ppa

Related needs packaging bugs:
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/183801
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/252755
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/252760

Thanks.

Re: Proposed Features for Launchpad Bugs 3.0 - call for help!

2008-08-01 Thread Marcelo Boveto Shima
Hi,

I'm not a motu but I want to give my opinion on this. I tried several times
the revu
process but without success. This was because the review took so long (a
month)
that I always give up. I've uploaded azureus, synce (others related),
omnibook
(driver for my notebook), and the last were virt-manager and libvirt (both
adopted by
a debian maintainer, with corrections of corse)

I know the Motu team doesn't have enought man power. So revu process should
became easier by integrating it into launchpad. Launchpad already has PPA
(builds the
package with lintian checks, creates necessary debdiff and can have tests if
the
package works for users) so an option "Propose for Ubuntu" that puts the
package
with all necessary information into a queue for review. This would be a
killer feature for
merges and little corrections. Would be nice to have approved count
exclusive to motu
on this queue.

Regards,
Marcelo

Re: NX 3.2.0 packages

2008-07-31 Thread Marcelo Boveto Shima
I just uploaded.

Lots have been done in the packages.

 - A team was created with some guys that were working on it.
https://launchpad.net/~freenx-team
 - The packaging is hosted at bzr.
 - PPA repository was created.

Can someone take a look at nx and nxcompshad that is in revu?

Thanks
Shima

NX 3.2.0 packages

2008-04-17 Thread Marcelo Boveto Shima
Hello,

Is there a possibility that FreeNX + NX packages to get accepted into
universe?

The packages are on my ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~marceloshima/+archive

Pros and Cons:
- NX is a fork of Xorg 6.9.
   It's duplicate source code.

- There is no security problem because only 3 libs (libX11, libXext and
libXrender)
are shipped on the package and they can have the security patches ported
from dapper.
I remember it was a problem because NX was a fork of XFree86.

- This libs can be renamed to libXXX-nx. So will not conflict with the Xorg
ones.

- libXcomp, NXProxy and qtnx (NX client) are already in. We need the server
to make the
client useful.

- Freenx is shell scripts. But we have Freenx-NG that is python.
This was another problem when it was proposed to get in some years ago.
