All hands on deck! It's REVU day!
Hi MOTUs, It's Friday, Jan 23, 2009 and it's REVU day! We need all MOTUs on deck! A similar plea was sent out last week, but to not much avail. We really need MOTUs to go and make at least one review. This week we have ~128 packages waiting for review. That's an increase of 15% in a week! The REVU regulars can't keep up with that growth. As I wrote last week, each upload deserves at least _one_ review. If it after that gets stuck in needs-work status, so be it. Perhaps someone else will come along later and care for it. Come along on #ubuntu-motu, get a friendly chat and brush up on your rusty reviewing skills! All hands on deck! It's REVU day!
Hi MOTUs, We are already well into REVU day, and we have 100 entries sitting in the queue waiting for a review. You may not think that reviewing is the most sexy MOTU task, but as long as we refer newcomers to REVU, we owe it to the community to review uploads. Each upload deserves at least one review. If it after that gets stuck in needs-work status, so be it. Perhaps someone else will come along later and care for it. But, in fact many of the packages have gone through several rounds of reviewing and can soon be finalized, and their uploaders are anxiously waiting. There are many exciting software packages to look at, and many that would be a big plus for Ubuntu users. So come along on #ubuntu-motu, get a friendly chat and brush up on your rusty reviewing skills. Here is a new REVU Day
Hi, Nine hours ago sun rose up in Chatham Island [0], smiling warmly at a new REVU Day, the third this cycle, which as usual has a duration of 50 hours. Like last week, Charlie Smotherman has done an excellent job selecting some candidates that should be easy to get ready for upload during this REVU Day. You can find them at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/REVUDays === About REVU Day === REVU Day is a weekly event during which Ubuntu Developers and Contributors are encouraged to spend some extra time reviewing packages on REVU (http://revu.ubuntuwire.com). If you have good packaging knowledge: go look at some packages :). Or, if you have a package there yourself waiting for review, try to be available on #ubuntu-motu so that reviewers can contact you (and from time to time ask for reviews so that people notice your package). Also, don't forget to read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Packages/REVU/CheckList before. Happy reviewing, -- Siegfried-A. Final REVU Day for Hardy Heron
All, The final REVU Day in preparation for the 8.04 release has just begun, with 52 candidates currently waiting for review. MOTUs, Please take the time to review two or three candidates. The packagers have been working to ensure that the next release contains the best of new software, and need your help to ensure it can be included in the release. As this will be the last REVU Day, it's especially important that we all take a look: maybe there's a package you'd like to have on your system for hardy? Packagers, Please make sure your packages are up to date, and you can upload promptly in response to commentary. This is the last organised effort to get things in before FeatureFreeze: things not uploaded this time are likely good candidates for hardy+1. -- Emmet HIKORY -- Ubuntu-motu mailing list Ubuntu-motu@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-motu
Re: Light attendance at 24th December REVU Day
On Dec 21, 2007 8:57 PM, I wrote: Please be aware that due to the scheduled Christmas Break (1), the REVU day of the 24th December is expected to have sparse attendence. While packagers are still encouraged to submit their best work before REVU day, and any reviewers who happen to be around are more than welcome to review packages, neither party should be surprised if there is no timely response to any of an upload, a review, or an advertisement in #ubuntu-motu. Just as an update, the REVU server has gone down, and is not currently expected to be restored in time for REVU day on the 24th (which would otherwise start in just over 7 hours). As a result, REVU Day for 24th December will be cancelled. If the REVU server can be restored in time, the 31st December REVU day will continue as planned, possibly with light attendance due to New Years celebrations. Confirmation will be provided next weekend. -- Emmet HIKORY -- Ubuntu-motu mailing list Ubuntu-motu@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-motu
Light attendance at 24th December REVU Day
Reviewers and Packagers, Please be aware that due to the scheduled Christmas Break (1), the REVU day of the 24th December is expected to have sparse attendence. While packagers are still encouraged to submit their best work before REVU day, and any reviewers who happen to be around are more than welcome to review packages, neither party should be surprised if there is no timely response to any of an upload, a review, or an advertisement in #ubuntu-motu. This may also be true for the 31st December REVU day, but for entirely different reasons. 1: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyReleaseSchedule -- Emmet HIKORY -- Ubuntu-motu mailing list Ubuntu-motu@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-motu
Re: Next REVU day.
Yes, since we are now into a new cycle, there is a REVU day planned for Monday, 5 November 2007. If you have any packages you would like to see in the Ubuntu repository, or if there is a package you wish to get updated for Ubuntu Hardy, please come along to #ubuntu-motu on irc.freenode.net to get your packages reviewed. MOTUs, if you could lend a hand with reviewing packages on that day, that would be a great help. That's the first time I heard about a REVU day, I'll do my best to join. In the meantime, request for reviews can be posted, or should I wait for it? If you submitted a package to REVU andwant to get it reviewed, it might be a good idea to show up as well, asyou'll be able to work together with the reviewers on your package. I guess it'll be the same for a REVU day. But if more people will be available this week end, that's fine. We need to have this day ASAP (e.g. _this_ week) since UpstreamVersionFreeze will come very quickly. that this is a high-priority activity now :) I'll try to help Thanks! a REVU day?
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hello MOTUs and MOTU hopefuls, I guess you've all noticed that a *lot* of packages are waiting for reviews on REVU. When trying to find a better way to manage all this work during Edgy development [1], we also need to clean up the list by massive reviewing. [1]: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EasierMotuing Could we schedule a REVU day to do so? This day is a chance for newcomers to learn new things about packaging, and for more advanced packagers to get even more involved by reviewing other packages. We should pick up a day in next week IMO. Any thoughts?
