I do use KnownDict, but it crashes with some of my used dictionaries.
I should file a bug in LP.

Hey Tony, yes I did:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1565675

Please let me know if you need additional logs. Happy to help with testing.

Yes, my MX4's USB port died completely. But no, all the issues I am
seeing with MTP are happening with krillin devices.

That said, the MX4 USB hardware is known to be flaky. It's hard to have
solid MTP support with an unreliable transport.

Owncloud is simple - setup and it just works
dont have to worry about wires the photos just appear on each device
automatically
there is a app out there if you can setup your own server which you
just apt-get install owncloud
add the users install the owncloud click and configure and your away :-

Only reason I use ssh/sftp is being too lazy to grab my phone and plug it into
my laptop. That's way too much work! I use OwnCloud as primary now. Then
FileZilla (but will skip that and just use Nautilus instead). Plugging it in
and drag/drop is a last resort.

I'd be really interested to know what proportion of MX4s work and what

I am using MX4 also. No (or very rare) problems with USB port: flashing
device, removing 3-5 GB of music, copying photos and ~5 GB of Music
(>1000 files) to device and from device. MTP & ADB works normal.

IMO, problems with USB are related to production batches of MX4.

I've never had trouble with MTP, but if someone's determined to use SSH
(a tried and true method!) and hunting for an SFTP client, it's time for
a reminder that Ubuntu ships one with Nautilus. :)

I'm not sure there *is* an alternative. In the meantime, SFTP is
definitely one of the pros of convergence.

Indeed, that sounds like an option. But I think many of the MTP issues
are not the phone's fault, but MTP is in general known as a very fragile
thing. At least in my experience, MTP never worked reliable, regardless
of what device combination I used. Not to mention that there is no
support for MTP on MacOS X, in-car radios with USB ports etc at all.

Yeah, I think it would be good if we find an alternative.I experience some
issues with MTP as well and I think it is too limited.
