[Ubuntu-phone] Landing team 18.05.16

2016-05-18 Thread Łukasz 'sil2100' Zemczak
Hello everyone,

Another quick one - daily landing team e-mails will be pretty short
until we gain velocity for the next milestone.

But the today's good news is: we are in the middle of the, most
possibly, final re-spin of OTA-11 as the two required blocker fixes have
landed. Once the images are imported QA will be picking them up and
performing delta testing (so not all tests will have to be re-run). This
might take a bit since the two fixes involved releasing new mir and
unity8 stacks, but this will most probably not affect the final release
date. So far so good.

Also, due to the respin, the nearest nightly (rc-proposed) images will
be slightly delayed since the builders are busy. We will make them
available somewhere around tomorrow UTC morning.

Cheers!

This should generally not be an issue any more, as we use the timestamp
from the server when signing requests now. Any account being deleted
should not be caused by an incorrect time or timezone being set.

This linked bug is not the issue reported in this e-mail thread. It is
a similar issue caused by a very specific condition, which can be
easily replicated. I've moved that bug to a more appropriate place, and
hopefully it will get fixed, but it is a server side problem, exposed
by an extremely rare situation.

That said, the work we are doing for OTA12 won't solve the core issues
with the account being invalidated on the client. It should make the
situation a little less abrasive, but even with it in place, the
account would still be getting invalidated, and Paul here would still
have to log in every time, until we an determine what is causing that
specific behavior to occur, and resolve it.

It cannot. And if it could, it wouldn't prevent the account from being
invalidated in certain situations, which would require you to log in
again.

We would need to see what is causing your exact situation, to fix it.
Please file a bug report[1] and attach the contents of the file
/home/phablet/.cache/upstart/scope-registry.log immediately after
having recreated the issue again on your device.

Thanks.

It seems like you're deploying an application that requires framework
15.04.5 to a device that does not have that framework (i.e. it's not
running rc-proposed channel). Framework 15.04.5 will be introduced by OTA11
as far as I know, so the only way to have that framework on your device is
to run the rc-proposed channel, that already has the released candidate of
OTA11.

If your phone is running the stable OTA10 (which ships framework 15.04.4),
please change your application manifest to require framework 15.04.4
instead of 15.04.5 :)

Let me know if that helps :)

how can i get this to stop, i need to create this app then work on it
more to add the features i need, ive got a list of web apps im wanting

Also can somebody send me the link to the SDK click on the ubuntu

seen there was a link for a click that will load so at least i can take

Ive tried installing the click manually on the phone emulator but it

Hi

Thanks for the reply!

It's mostly on the skillset side at least for me...
But also because I don't have slightest clue on how to even begin debugging
such problems, let alone where to get the code and how to compile and push it
back to a device for testing. Is there any documentation available for this??

I have experience on python and coding on arduino platform.

OTA-11 already includes theme stuff in both Libertine and Puritine (the
libertine container bundled with the M10).

well, the libertine-xmir part is definitely a gross hack, but i know the
libertine team is actually working on proper DPI detection (not sure it
is planned for OTA12 though ...)

including the three theme packages in every libertine default install
should definitely not be a problem.

the hackery i do in the user dir should rather be a global setup in the
container though ...

all of this might be helpful suggestions to the libertine guys, but is
surely not applicable as-is ...

read: needs more work to be proper for any OTA inclusion

You can't really "force" an update. There has to be one available
on the channel your system images are supplied from, or there's
nothing to update to.

Your device will inform you when there's an update available. Then
you start System Settings, choose Update, and then Ubuntu updates
are listed if available. They phase in over a 24-hour period for
retail devices.

You can't really "force" an update. There has to be one available on
the channel your system images are supplied from, or there's nothing to
update to.

Your device will inform you when there's an update available. Then you
start System Settings, choose Update, and then Ubuntu updates are listed
if available. They phase in over a 24-hour period for retail devices.

What you see is exactly the account creation dialog. :-)

Unfortunately, you are also seeing another bug, where the Ubuntu One
account gets deleted when some error occurs. Having the account creation
happen in the System Settings won't help you: the account will get
removed anyway, regardless of how it was created.

This is

We are working on it, but it's taking longer than expected. We aim at
OTA-12 now.

Good to know that the OS will get updated.

How can the account be added from the command line?

With the next update, the Ubuntu One account is getting back in the list.
However, you don't need to wait for that: the Ubuntu One account
creation is automatically started when you trigger some action which
require it (such as installing an application from the Ubuntu Store).

2016-05-18 Thread Łukasz 'sil2100' Zemczak
Hello Timo,

It is worth noting that the milestone bug list is not something that is
locked down and final - new bugs will be added as they go. The milestone
list is more like a priority pointers, meaning, we list the issues that
we would like to prioritize. Hopefully at least one of the bugs you
mentioned might get fixed in time.

Of course please also remember that this are all open-source projects.
We have limited resources, but basically anyone with the right skill-set
can dive into an issue and prepare a fix - not only Canonical employees.

Cheers,
