Hello,

I have one observation re/ the audio during the SIP calls:

baresip uses its pulseaudio driver pulse.so and this seems to contact
and work with a process 'pulseaudio --start --log-target=syslog' running
in the device. One has no control over the volume of the conversation.
Even if you mute the volume with the button on the side of the phone
completely, the volume has the same value. More, you cant even make
calls without using a headset due to the problem of local recording from
the loudspeaker.

Any ideas about this?

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Best means for getting photos OFF Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition?

2016-06-12 Thread Bob Summerwill
Yes. I tried the Android File Transfer with my MX4 yesterday. Nothing.

I believe that the "bad batch" theory is very true on the MX4.Even my
amazing Windows 10 discovery didn't work the following day.

I’ve tried this with the Nexus 4 and never got it to work. Seems like it
depends on what device you have.

[Ubuntu-phone] Swap on sd

2016-06-12 Thread Wayne Ward
I seem to be suffering from low memory
I have a clean installed e5 with ota 11

If I leave just dekko open for notifications and owncloud sync running,
dekko randomly crashes in background and I have it set not to suspend then
if I use web browser, facebook or google + they always reload so pretty
limited to having one or two apps open
Is it possible to put a small swap file on the SD card would this work and
would it maybe improve the problem or is this a bad idea?

How can I find out why its pretty limited to a few apps and this happens?

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the Mediascanner. Killing the
running instance of mediascanner seems to work. The newly respawned
instance does scan all music.

Strange though, I can't find anything amiss in the log that may have
caused it to hang.

I'm not a SIP user (yet?) but thanks for the effort you put into this! :)

Mediascanner is the process which 'finds' and indexes all the audio
and video files on your device. Music only plays the files
mediascanner has discovered.

I'd look on your phone in ~/.cache/upstart for mediascanner-2.0.log
(and logrotated compressed files of similar names) to see what it did
when it found those files. I think it only looks in certain places, so
won't find music mounted in places it's not expecting.

Cheers,

[Ubuntu-phone] Music app ignores files on SD card

2016-06-12 Thread Jeroen Hoek
Hello,

To add some storage to my Meizu Pro 5, I have mounted an Ext4 formatted
SD card from the command line (automatic mounting is currently broken¹
for Ext4).

I am trying to get the Music app to read the music files on the SD card,
but it is ignoring them completely.

What I have tried:

* Symlink the directory with music files on the SD card from ~/Music
* Mount --bind the directory with music files on the SD card to
~/Music/SD_Music

Neither works.

When I move files from the SD card to anywhere in ~/Music, the music
*does* get picked up. All files on the SD card are owned by user
phablet. All directories on the SD card are set to 755, all files 644.

I can view them in the File Manager without unlocking full access.

Where should I start to figure what is wrong?

[Ubuntu-phone] baresip for BQ E4.5 and M10 with working audio

2016-06-12 Thread Matthias Apitz

Hello,

The audio is now working and SIP can be tested with this tar archive:

$ wget http://www.unixarea.de/bq-baresip.tgz
$ md5 bq-baresip.tgz
MD5 (bq-baresip.tgz) = 1cb13e6fc70d2b3136d90ee988cc46a8

The installation is pretty much simple as:

$ cd
$ tar xzf bq-baresip.tgz

Create an account file ~/.baresip/accounts with lines like:

# SIP accounts - one account per line
#
# Displayname ;addr-params
#
iptel ;answermode=auto

and start baresip in the terminal-app as:

$ ssh localhost
$ baresip/baresip.sh
baresip v0.4.19 Copyright (C) 2010 - 2016 Alfred E. Heggestad et al.
Local network address:  IPv4=wlan0:192.168.2.103

/home/phablet/.baresip//uuid

Populated 2 audio codecs
Populated 1 audio filter
Populated 0 video codecs

baresip is ready.
g...@iptel.org: {0/TCP/v4} 200 OK (ser (3.3.0-pre1 (i386/linux))) [1 binding]
All 1 useragent registered successfully! (2656 ms)

to dial a SIP peer, just say: d x...@whatever.sip.provider

Note:

1. you must use 'ssh localhost' at the moment because it is not yet a
   click package; how to configure this is explained in the gitbook;
2. you must use the shell script 'baresip/baresip.sh' because of needed
   environment and params (have a look into it);

Please test and report problems.
