[Ubuntu-phone] Landing team 22.07.16
Hello everyone, No news yet regarding OTA-12 - sometimes no news is good news though! Meanwhile on the OTA-13 front we're slowly proceeding with all planned features. Today we had the new libertine landing with a few reworks system files updates for unprivileged LXCs + some new functionalities and a follow-up address-book-service with some required packaging changes (renaming of the newly introduced packages). In the queue we have a new big UITK landing with a lot of good changes. One of these changes is a fix for the recent emulator regression we didn't have much cycles to look into [1], a solution to which was also proposed by one of our users in the bug itself (thanks Devid!). We might cherry-pick that single fix from trunk and release it ASAP to get the emulator into a better shape. At least into a good enough shape to look at the networking issues [2]. Have a great weekend! * What landed in our images: http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/landing-team/ubuntu-touch #391 rc-proposed/krillin - http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/landing-team/ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en/krillin/391.commitlog #385 rc-proposed/vegetahd - http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/landing-team/ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en/vegetahd/385.commitlog #384 rc-proposed/arale - http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/landing-team/ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/meizu.en/arale/384.commitlog #150 rc-proposed/frieza - http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/landing-team/ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris-pd.en/frieza/150.commitlog #141 rc-proposed/turbo - http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/landing-team/ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/meizu-pd.en/turbo/141.commitlog * Some useful documentation: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandingTeam https://wiki.ubuntu.com/citrain/RTMLandingApproaches https://wiki.ubuntu.com/citrain/LandingProcess https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandingTeam/ReleaseSchedule http://developer.ubuntu.com/start/ubuntu-for-devices/image-channels/ https://requests.ci-train.ubuntu.com/ https://trello.com/b/AE3swczu/silo-testing http://people.canonical.com/~lzemczak/issues/ https://lists.launchpad.net/landing-team-changes/ https://lists.launchpad.net/landing-team-changes+1/ * Blocking issues (stable): ** Ubuntu-emulator no network on latest image [2] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phablet-tools/+bug/1587808 ** Emulator is not loading scopes or apps [1] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phablet-tools/+bug/1604273 * Blocking issues (devel): None. * Issues in need of attention: None. -- Łukasz 'sil2100' Zemczak Foundations Team lukasz.zemc...@canonical.com www.canonical.com -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-phone Post to : ubuntu-phone@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-phone More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Voice call whit Skype (web) finnally work in Meizu MX4 - OTA-11
Im finding that everybody i talk to in spain has whatsapp when i want to communicate with them but i can unless i get my hands on a android pop my card in setup the whatsapp application log in transfer the bar code into my ubuntu phone then it works i think ? i really need to get it working so just trying to get a lend of a android to even try this im pretty certain there is no way around this unless anybody knows any different i also tried to get video call ready to speak to the kids when in spain but thats not working as well - there is a fix in place to put the camera the right way round which has been implemented for BQ4.5 but not HD5, but i read its getting done .. hopefully! so at least we have a app that can video call while we wait for the likes of skype which could be worth looking at using the ubuntu package that works using libertine containers as a work around for now i guess? but that wont cover the BQ phones as you would have to install libertine yourself and not sure thats a good idea or not?.. so were pretty much cut of from video calls and the popular whatsapp im sure its a blocker for lots of people specially in spain were everybody seems to have it?! Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Seldom crashes
I'm sorry to say it but at the moment my phone is useless: don't hear the sms, web browser crashes as well as music player and any application (yahoo weather, yahoo mail) based on web browser. Is there anything I can check for developers why it happens before I reboot? I promised myself to not use rc proposed and use this phone as a normal dummy user as my mom. From the normal user's point of view this phone simply doesn't work :-)How long do we have to wait for OTA12? Cheers Marcin Am Fr., 22. From reading comments left on different forums, it would seem that the absence of WhatsApp in particular seems to be a deal-breaker to the adoption of Touch for many... Perhaps if there was a version of Franz available for Touch (which I believe interfaces with WhatsApp), that might attract more users... m On 22/07/16 09:33, Peter Bittner wrote: Voice and video call with services is fine for a start, but Ubuntu should really make a difference and provide an integrated approach to communication. Have Canonical a plan to release an official Skype app? right now the Peter Bittner web app it's a good compromise. Someone have tested this new Skype features? Voice and video call with services is fine for a start, but Ubuntu should really make a difference and provide an integrated approach to communication.
