OK. Thank you for the report. I have an idea what these symptoms mean,
but figuring out why they happen needs additional investigation.

I always keep my phone on the latest production OTA release, I dont
dabble with proposed as I like to use the most recent released stable
version. Has anyone else had this issue?

Given your description, the bug most probably is
https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1615474

I have rebooted a number of times but this has not solved the problem
and I have also tried flight mode on and off but again there is no
progress. I notice that I can still connect to my mobile data as the
browser works but trying to update using the system settings I am met
with a message about needing to connect to do this.

I shall update the bug above shortly with suggestions how to debug this.

Sounds indeed like a bug.

It seems to work fine here. I enable mobile data, and after several
seconds the indication appears on the indicator row.

The indicator should always be visible in the indicator row. This seems
like a crash of indicator-network.

[Ubuntu-phone] CALL FOR TESTING: Mobile Data Toggle

2016-06-20 Thread Antti Kaijanmäki

Hello!

As per popular demand, we now have an on/off toggle for mobile data
(cellular data) in the network indicator. It's scheduled for OTA 12, but
before landing we'd like to get more testers to give it a try.

Users familiar with the citrain tool can install this from silo 80 and
report their findings to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ux/+bug/1373463 .

Thank you and happy start of the week!

please, send me privately the output of the following commands (either

It's lack of UI to do the configuration. WPA Enterprise was left out of
the RTM feature list pretty early and hence there has been no work to
support it for the first release.

As WPA Enterprise is pretty common in the enterprises and institutions
such as universities and colleges we want to bring the full support for
it ASAP, but I can't give any estimates at this time.

Thanks!

If you have enabled developer mode enabled, could you run phablet-shell

$ ./usr/share/ofono/scripts/list-contexts

NOTE: that output might contain personal data such as your phone number,
so either remove any personal data from the output before replying to

[Ubuntu-phone] Image Servers Are Down

2014-10-11 Thread Antti Kaijanmäki
To prevent bad images to be spread through Over The Air updates (see
thread "Don't update to RTM build") we have been forced to take down the
image servers temporarily until we have a new images available.

Resulting from this ubuntu-device-flash will not function for any
channels until the image servers are restored online. You are not able
to flash any locally cached images either with the tool. [0]

We will continue our efforts to get the new images available as soon as
possible. If you phone has already downloaded a new OTA image in the
background, DO NOT install the image.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

this is on mako (n4)?

You say you "installed the ofono deb file". which was the exact package
name? ofono itself is already installed by default.

could you log in with phablet-shell and provide the information of
running /usr/share/ofono/scripts/list-modems ?

WPA2 Enterprise is not supported.

For WPA Personal you can already see the AP in your list if it's not

Yes, the design team must do concrete decisions to what to include and
what to leave out. As a developer of i-network there are couple of
things I would like to have there as well, but it's actually better that
somebody else makes the decisions on that as otherwise the indicator
would contain the stuff *I* personally need and my needs are not always
the best subset of features for a regular smart phone user :)

The designs can be changed, of course, and to do that I would ask you to
file a wishlist bug against indicator-network[0] in LP where you
describe what you would like to see in the indicator and why you think
it's a good idea to have the feature there for everyone.

This way when we do our next round of indicator designs we can use these
requests to aid us on doing the decisions and sometimes even
compromises. Having input and requests from our users and community is
highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Unity Action API will not be deprecated. We are just currently missing
visible platform integration as the HUD can't be invoked on the phone
ATM and we have not got the Offline Actions or Launcher integration done
due to changed priorities.

The concepts of the action api are still valid.

Part of the motivation of removing a hard dependency between UITK and
Unity Action API is also the aim to make UITK Components themselves
independent of any Ubuntu specific services. The Ubuntu API's (including
unity action api) are still available, but you have to import them.

Well, this kinda makes me ask, why can't we resync daily? At least until
14.10 is released and upstreams create their 15.04 series. That would
make it so much easier for us all as (developer) time is of the essence.

If any upstream is planning to land features *not* also for RTM to their
14.10 series, please let us know in this thread.

After having a discussion at #ubuntu-ci-eng I will just reiterate my
standing on this and let the conversation continue here.

From the bug report:
"From our observation the crashes do not cause any test failures, so
they seem to be happening in the background without any effect on the user."

tags: lt-category-noimpact lt-prio-low

Does it affect the user experience?
No.

Does it have side effects?
No.

Does it happen on production system?
No.

As the "owner" of indicator-network I refuse this to be a promotion
blocker. I will not be paying any attention to this bug before all of
the higher priority bugs have been cleared from this list:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/~kaijanmaki/+assignedbugs

I'm requesting to get this issue whitelisted until all of the higher
priority tasks have been dealt with.

With best regards,

Some updates:

A)
the crash happens before the tests are run when packages are being
installed. It's probably because of ofono-phonesim-autostart replacing
ofono process.

B)
This is hard to debug as seems that apport is not pulling in the proper
libstdc++6 debug packages and thus retracing fails. But I'm able to
manually get a backtrace. This probably affects any c++11 project we have.

C)
The crash actually happens inside dbus-cpp worker thread and there seems
to be some sort of a locking issue. Will continue investigation with tvoss.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Landing team 04.03.14

2014-03-05 Thread Antti Kaijanmäki
Seems that webbrowser-app AP tests are broken ATM also.
Just did a fresh flash of devel-proposed ubuntu-system image, ran
apt-get dist-upgrade to get the latest packages from the archive and
running autopilot run webbrowser_app gives me reliably:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File
"/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/webbrowser_app/tests/test_tabs.py",
line 58, in test_tabs_model
self.ensure_activity_view_visible()
  File
"/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/webbrowser_app/tests/__init__.py",
line 154, in ensure_activity_view_visible
self.ensure_chrome_is_hidden()
  File
"/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/webbrowser_app/tests/__init__.py",
line 105, in ensure_chrome_is_hidden
self.assert_chrome_eventually_hidden()
  File
"/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/webbrowser_app/tests/__init__.py",
line 100, in assert_chrome_eventually_hidden
self.assertThat(toolbar.animating, Eventually(Equals(False)))
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/testtools/testcase.py", line
406, in assertThat
raise mismatch_error
MismatchError: After 10.0 seconds test on Panel.animating failed: False
!= dbus.Boolean(True, variant_level=1)

Ran 37 tests in 710.493s
FAILED (failures=7)
