Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Battery issue ongoing

2016-07-10 Thread Marcin Xc
It happened to me only once. Now i use my phone with two sim cards and no gsm
Internet connection (only wifi). I'm more than happy with my phone. I need to
charge the battery of my bq only twice a week. Sometimes every 4 days by normal
use with every day alarm clock. The system itself is extremely efficient. It
must be some app that kills the batt.

Hello Konrad.

I have found my battery to be empty in the morning when certain apps where
used last on my BQ Aquaris 5

In my case U-Torch and Podbird. Just swipe close or plug phone when falling
asleep to a podcast.

Not sure if this is a general issue in terms of reported bugs though.

It's funny you mention that. I've taken a couple apart so I can
measure directly at the wires, and recently just added USB to
that too. :)

So far it's being used to make sure power use doesn't increase
over time, but it can now measure charge behavior too.

[Ubuntu-phone] Battery issue ongoing

2016-07-05 Thread Konrad Hofer
Hi,

in the last week my bq E4.5 was several times suddenly without
power. Very annoying when you use your smart-phone as an alarm clock!

I followed the advice to switch off the phone and charge it over night.
It seems the battery is drained in a couple of hours, like last
night, see attached
screenshot!

My bq E4.5 is now 1 year and 3 months old.

What should I do? Is the battery EOL?
Anyone from bq reading this?

Thanks very much!

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Battery issue

2016-06-28 Thread Vic G

Hi all!

This bug has been present in UT for a long time, not all devices
reproduce the same behaviour but is a well known issue. For the time
being, charging your UP while it is powered off and make full charges
without using it is the best way to improve the user experience
regarding the battery life.

What feels more annoying is the fact of finding your phone powered off
when it had enough battery last time you checked it. The battery
statistics and indicator trick us sometimes, letting us think it will
work for many more hours. This battery bug was also present on
Krillin/Vegeta Android firmware and was solved with continious firmware
updates(not a single patch).

Since Krillin/Vegeta have no hardware for battery measure, the goal is
to correctly read the battery level from kernel, what seems to be the
root cause of this bug, you'll find more info and updates about it here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1471913

We all hope and trust that this bug will be fixed :)

Cheers,

Have this issue for a long time. Actually, since I own the BQ 4.5 phone,
which is more than a year already. Tried few times to perform cycles like
this. Does not work for me. So, just a waste of time, from my perspective.

Now wondering if it can work at all...

Mi wife too. I think at BQ they should open some devices and put meters to
