This Kernel Team wiki page contains some information on debugging issues with the backlight on laptops. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Debugging/Backlight -- Brian Murray Ubuntu Bug Master signature.asc Description: Digital signature -- Ubuntu-qa mailing list Ubuntu-qa@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-qa

James, How did you modify grub for backlighting? Is there a thread or a wiki page on how to do it? I never did get it to work on my Thinkpad 510 with Lucid or Maverick. Until I get better dependability on my desktop, I can't risk my laptop. Joe On 03/27/2011 10:58 AM, James Gifford wrote: +1 for this idea. Laptop testing: Backlight test needed
I've been going through the laptop tests in preparation for the Natty beta release next week. I noticed that there is no test for backlight dimming. This would be useful to test. It can make a big different on the battery life. My HP Envy 14 passes, but my MacbookPro.2 fails.
