I forgot to add:

I have created a Wiki Map for Lubuntu before stepping down and leaving the
community (Lubuntu):
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/WikiMap

But that was never complete. There are some other pages which are not
listed. Lubuntu has a problem that is not yet fixed. It has duplicate pages
with different information sometimes.

The index idea was inspired by the One Stop Concept which has started 4
years ago with a thread I have created called: Lubuntu One Stop Thread.
That thread was closed and converted to a Wiki Page:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LubuntuLinks

Which is semi-dead or outdated as no one is updating it any more.

The other one was created for Ubuntu GNOME:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/OneStopPage

But now, I have decided to drop the idea of the One Stop Shop concept and
replace it with something called: Central Home Page (CHP):

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME

What is that?

Each and every 'main' tab will have a CHP (Central Home Page) where you can
navigate from to any other sub-page, AKA child page. And, the one and only
chance you lose a page is when you do not add it to:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/WikiMap

That is why, whenever I or someone else in Ubuntu GNOME Team create any
page, the first thing we do is adding it to:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/WikiMap

The combination of CHP + Index is amazing IMHO.

Sadly, some Ubuntu documentation or pages are more confusing than being
helpful. But that is a bit of different topic. Let's focus on the Ubuntu
Quality pages for now :)

The only thing I could promise is whenever I find a chance to improve the
pages of Ubuntu Quality, I will do it right away ;)
But the index page is really important if we really want to keep track of
all the pages :)

Please, do not tell me to 'search' for a page. I for one have no time to
waste on searching. NOT because I am lazy, but because it does not make
sense to search for the main and the sub-pages.

Oh, I noticed:

<>

here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WilyWerewolf

I wonder if this is the automatic approach? I don't think so because there
is no index, it is just the sub-pages will be listed as far as I can tell.
Someone else might have better understanding or idea than myself :)

Edit:
I have just applied:
<>

To one of Ubuntu GNOME pages:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/Testing

Without saving the code, just preview.

And, it will list the sub-pages under:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/Testing
But will not list the pages under
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME

In another word, I don't think:
<>

Is the way to generate an index for all the pages.

I will never claim to be an expert but when it comes to Ubuntu Wiki pages,
I was the one who built Ubuntu GNOME Wiki area from scratch. When I joined
Ubuntu GNOME in July 2013, we had only one page + the release notes. Today,
we have this:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/WikiMap

And, that Wiki Map was generated manually, link by link. Because all the
pages you see except one were created by me. So, I know each and every page
and as you see, it has a tree view as well.

I have no idea whether we can generate that automatically or not? perhaps
there is a way?! I don't know. For Ubuntu GNOME, it has been done manually
because we had only one page 2 years ago.

If there is a way to do that automatically for Ubuntu Quality, it would be
great :)

If someone could explain how can we find the Wiki Pages (ALL of them) for
Ubuntu Quality, it is also helpful, even though we have to do the index
manually.

As of now, I can not tell where are the pages for Ubuntu Quality because
these pages lack some basic features like "go back link". We should NOT
expect everyone to hit "Back" on the browser and there SHOULD be a "go back
link" IMHO. But I understand, that is just my opinion and YMMV.

Let me know if you guys need some help :)

Not that I have time to do anything extra at this point, to be honest but I
can definitely share some of what I have/know.

Thank you!

2015-05-20 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
I'm late to the thread and moinmoin wiki is not my forte. I've been blessed
with some help from others in the community to arrive where we are today.
SO, that said, is there a way to automagically generate an index for our
pages and keep it up to date? If yes, then consider me in favor. Also
consider me as not helpful in making this happen besides cheerleading those
with knowledge!

The help app needs tests!

2015-05-20 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
Can anyone help? Here's the bug(1). Daniel would love to hear from you!

For help, there's a guide for writing functional HTML5 tests on
developer.ubuntu.com(1). And for those who are fearful of autopilot, don't
worry, the tests are written primarily using selenium :-)

I'd love to see a new test writer take this on.
