More correctly, one should assign oneself *ONLY* if: * working on a fix * doing it NOW (not tomorrow/next week/month/year) A bug assigned to somebody is a clear sign to others that it is being worked on, and we need not worry about it anymore. I think, in the wiki, we should *ask users* to assign bugs only when the assignee will be able to work on it in a very short term.
